Bayradiology SA Welcome to Bayradiology. Our practice provides advanced imaging solutions to the medical community A brief overview of the history of our practice:

1980 - Drs.

Bayradiology is the largest Radiological practice in the Eastern Cape and one of the largest group practices in the country. We currently have 230 employees at the practice and have rooms at Greenacres Hospital, St. George’s Hospital, Mercantile Hospital, Greenways Medical Centre, Intercare, and GVI Oncology all based in Port Elizabeth. Also, Cuyler Hospital in Uitenhage and rooms in Grahamstown, Humansdorp, Jeffrey’s Bay and Port Alfred. Vosloo, Grant & Partners was formed from 3 small practices.
1988 - Drs. Visser, Erasmus & Partners was formed from Drs. Vosloo, Grant & Partners and Dr. Geere & Partners.
1990 - Drs. Malherbe, Basson & Partners started at St. Georges Hosptial.
2004 - Dr. Bemath & Partners in Korsten merged with the practice to become Drs. Visser, Erasmus, Vawda & Partners.
2007 - Drs. Malherber, Basson & Partners merged with the practice.
2013 - Name change to Bayradiology

Sharing clinical perspectives on appropriate imaging.

Bayradiology radiologist and partner, Dr Sharon de K**k, presented on Appropriate Imaging at the ECIPA Healthcare CPD conference 2026 held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Gqeberha, attended by more than 100 doctors.

Her talk explored the selection of imaging investigations in relation to a patient’s symptoms and clinical presentation, sharing practical insights to support referral decisions. The presentation was well received by the general practitioners, with strong engagement during the question-and-answer session.

Our radiographer, Ellen Pretorius, also met with doctors individually, providing information and answering questions about mammography, MRI, bone density examinations and other radiology services. These open conversations offered an opportunity to discuss their queries directly.

Thank you to the organisers and participating doctors for a valuable opportunity to share knowledge and strengthen professional collaboration in support of patient care.

Understanding function. Informing diagnosis.

This Nuclear Medicine Week, we highlight the clinical value of nuclear medicine within Bayradiology’s diagnostic imaging services.

Nuclear medicine goes beyond showing the structure of an organ - it examines how organs and tissues function. Small amounts of radioactive tracers, detected by specialised cameras, reveal patterns of activity within the body.

Specialists interpret these patterns to assess abnormalities and provide diagnostic information that helps referring doctors make informed decisions about patient care.

At Bayradiology, clinical insight begins with considered interpretation.

Our radiologists bring specialist medical knowledge and clinical judgement to each imaging examination, assessing anatomical structures, recognising patterns and evaluating findings that may indicate injury, disease or other changes.

Their interpretation brings together what is visible on the images, the patient’s clinical history and the question raised by the referring doctor. Where previous examinations are available, comparisons help establish whether findings are new, stable or evolving.

This is the clinical responsibility behind radiology reporting: assessing the significance of a finding, considering possible explanations and identifying when further investigation may be appropriate.

Our radiologists communicate these observations in a medical report, helping the referring doctor make informed decisions about diagnosis, treatment or follow-up.

Today, We Wore Black!

Today, Bayradiology staff wore black in support of anti-gender-based violence (GBV) campaigns to end GBV.

The serious faces in these photographs reflect a serious message: gender-based violence has no place in our homes, our workplaces or our communities.

Today, black was more than a colour. It was a visible stand in solidarity with those affected by gender-based violence and a reminder that silence should never be the response.

Image - Guided Abdominal Abscess Drainage At Bayradiology

Radiology extends beyond diagnostic imaging - it can also assist in guiding certain medical procedures.

Our radiologist, Dr Gagela, recently performed an image-guided drainage of an abdominal abscess, assisted by our Bayradiology radiographers.

During this procedure, medical imaging is used to locate the collection of infected fluid and guide the careful placement of a needle or drainage tube. This may form part of a patient’s treatment plan when considered clinically appropriate by the treating healthcare team.

Every patient is assessed individually, and procedures are performed following an appropriate medical referral.
