Musculoskeletal pain rarely affects only the area where symptoms are felt.

Over time, the body adapts through compensatory movement patterns, altered muscle activation and reduced mechanical efficiency — often placing additional stress on surrounding joints and tissues.

Biokinetics plays a critical role in identifying and correcting these dysfunctions through evidence-based rehabilitation, neuromuscular conditioning and structured movement intervention.

Within a multidisciplinary setting, this forms an essential part of restoring function, reducing re-injury risk and optimising long-term outcomes.

Because successful recovery is not only about symptom relief. It is about restoring quality movement. 💡

Muscles act as dynamic stabilisers around a joint.

When strength is insufficient, passive structures such as ligaments and cartilage absorb more stress.

Targeted strength training improves neuromuscular control, reduces injury risk and supports long-term joint preservation.

One of the most common questions in musculoskeletal medicine is whether PRP is “better” than cortisone for use in treating acute muscle and ligament injuries.

The truth? They serve different purposes.

An honour for Dr Hannes Jonker to share his research and findings on Kinematic Alignment and the subvastus approach with fellow orthopaedic surgeons at the Biennial South African Arthroplasty Society Congress last week.

It was also a privilege to share the stage with some of the country’s leading orthopaedic minds, alongside esteemed international faculty over the course of the congress.

Advancing surgical technique, refining patient outcomes, and contributing to the future of arthroplasty - that's our pursuit and the heart of what we do at Orthosport! 🌍🦵

What does it really take to get an athlete BACK IN THE GAME?

Not just surgery.
Not just rehabilitation.
But world-class collaboration, innovation, precision and evidence-based care.

We are proud to share this exciting global initiative, coming to South Africa for the very first time at the Century City Conference Centre from 19 to 20 June 2026. 🇿🇦

A privilege for Dr Hannes Jonker to be part of an exceptional international faculty alongside leading experts including Dr Mark Maritz, Dr Nilesh Kamat, Dr Patrick Raiss, Dr Rhys Thomas and Dr Rachel Frank.

This event brings together top clinicians to discuss real athlete cases, advanced surgical and rehabilitation strategies, and the innovations helping athletes return stronger, faster and more confidently than ever before.

Because recovery is never one-size-fits-all.
And changing outcomes starts with changing the game.

What an honour for Dr Hannes Jonker to share the stage with his long-time mentor and inspiration, renowned US orthopaedic surgeon Dr Steven Howell, at the KA Symposium in Cape Town earlier this week.

Together with esteemed international colleagues including Dr Johan Bellemans from Belgium and Dr Will Jackson from the UK, the symposium focused on advancing and refining Kinematic Alignment techniques in total knee arthroplasty.

Opportunities like these continue to drive innovation, collaboration and ultimately better outcomes for patients worldwide. 🌍🦵

✔️ Which supplements have evidence behind them
✔️ The risks of incorrect use
✔️ How to use supplements responsibly and effectively

Because supplements aren't magic. They are tools - and only when used correctly.

💡 Informed decisions = better performance + safer outcomes.
