Hear the term Radical Self-Care yet?
“The assertion that you have the responsibility to take care of yourself first before attempting to take care of others”.
It’s no secret that South Africans have become more health-conscious, especially after the year we’ve had.
While the topic of personal wellness was a big one pre-pandemic, it grew stronger once COVID-19 hit. And whether you’ve started exercising more or are finally taking your vitamins, conversations around wellbeing have become more common.
So, in essence, “radical-self-care” goes far beyond scented candles and bubble baths, alluding to doing what you truly need to do to protect yourself and your own mental health before exerting energy on others.
This concept that has seen us embracing practices that keep us physically and psychologically healthy and fit, making time to reflect on what matters to us and challenging ourselves to grow.
I fully embrace this idea of “self-care” but have found in practice that people are still reluctant to invest in their health, may it be from a simple sinus infection to more serious medical pathology.
Remember: Your health is your most important asset.
Furthermore, I have also seen some mis-guided decision making where advertising of certain health products leads us down the wrong path and you end up buying vitamins/supplements that are virtually useless. Always remember that these people’s intentions are not aimed at optimal health but rather on what profits can be made.
At my practice I will most certainly be able to assist you and evaluate your supplement efficacy and also highlight the most important things to look out for when you purchase vitamins and supplements. I will also address any health concearns in a pro-active manner.
