🚨 STOP Washing Your Hair the Boring Way
The doTERRA shower hack to revive your shampoo, fight hair fall, wake up your scalp, and make your hair feel alive again
Friends, real talk.
Some shampoos smell nice.
Some make bubbles.
Some promise miracles.
And some just sit in the shower looking pretty while doing almost nothing.
That’s why I started using doTERRA oils with my shampoo.
There are two easy ways to do it:
➤ Quick way: Put shampoo in your palm, add 1–2 drops of oil, and wash.
➤ My favorite way: Choose your oils, add them directly into the shampoo bottle, shake well, and use it like a normal shampoo.
That’s what I do. I like having my shampoo ready to go every time I wash my hair.
Here’s my simple cheat sheet 👇
Pick your hair goal, then pick your oil
➤ Hair fall support
Rosemary + Cedarwood + Lavender + Bergamot
This is the classic “please stay attached to my head” blend. Rosemary is the hero, Cedarwood is the steady friend, and Lavender keeps everything calm and beautiful.
➤ Encourage healthy hair growth
Rosemary + Peppermint
Rosemary is famous for scalp massage and hair growth support. Peppermint brings that cool, tingly wake-up feeling that makes your scalp feel alive.
➤ Fresh scalp / oily roots
Tea Tree + Peppermint
Perfect when your scalp feels heavy, oily, sweaty, or like it has been holding grudges.
➤ Dandruff, flakes, or buildup feeling
Tea Tree + Lavender
Tea Tree helps give that clean scalp feeling, and Lavender makes the whole wash feel softer and calmer.
➤ Dry, dull, sad hair
Lavender + Geranium
Softness. Shine. Feminine spa energy. Your hair basically puts on a little dress and says, “Thank you.”
➤ Luxury shower smell
Frankincense + Lavender + Rosemary
This is the “I may be washing my hair at home, but emotionally I’m in a five-star spa” blend.
➤ Dry ends
Lavender or Ylang Ylang
Use more on the conditioner side, especially mid-lengths and ends. Your roots do not need to look like they went swimming in olive oil.

Little warning from personal experience:
Do not put every oil you own into one shampoo bottle.
How to use it
➤ Add your chosen oils to the shampoo bottle.
➤ Shake very well.
➤ Shake again before each wash.
➤ Massage into the scalp for 60 seconds.
➤ Rinse well.
➤ Use conditioner mostly on the middle and ends of the hair.
Quick test option:
If you are trying a new oil, put shampoo in your palm, add 1 drop, wash once, and see how your scalp feels before adding it to the whole bottle.
Not just oils — doTERRA hair products I love
➤ doTERRA Protecting Shampoo
A beautiful everyday base, already infused with refreshing essential oils.
➤ doTERRA Daily Conditioner
Use mostly on the middle and ends of the hair.
➤ Root to Tip Serum
This is the one I would call the real star. Great for shine, softness, scalp care, and that healthy-hair look.
➤ Fractionated Coconut Oil
Perfect for a pre-wash scalp massage with Rosemary or Lavender.
➤ Leave-In Conditioner
For dry, tangled, “please behave today” hair.
Non-doTERRA hair tips that also help
➤ Massage your scalp before washing.
The cheapest hair tool is your own fingertips.
➤ Use lukewarm water.
Hot water feels amazing, but your hair does not need to be boiled like pasta.
➤ Put conditioner mostly on the ends.
Your scalp already makes oil. Do not give it a second job.
➤ Try a satin or silk pillowcase.
Less friction, less breakage, better morning hair.
➤ Brush gently.
Your hair is not a carpet. Please do not attack it.

Small note: This post is for beauty, personal care, and wellness education. It is not medical advice. If hair fall is sudden, severe, patchy, painful, postpartum-related, medication-related, or worrying, please check with a qualified professional. Essential oils are concentrated; avoid eyes, patch test first, and dilute for sensitive skin, children, or strong oils like Thyme, Oregano, Cinnamon, Clove, and Cassia.
