Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS), also referred to as hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS), is a rare but severe zoonotic respiratory disease caused by hantaviruses carried by rodents.

Humans are typically infected through inhalation of airborne particles contaminated with rodent urine, droppings, or saliva.

The illness usually begins with nonspecific symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal complaints, but can rapidly progress to cough, shortness of breath, and acute respiratory distress due to fluid accumulation in the lungs and capillary leakage.

This can lead to shock and life-threatening respiratory failure. HPS is characterized by rapid clinical deterioration and has a high case fatality rate, requiring prompt supportive medical care.

Dhanteras: Celebrating the Birth of Lord Dhanvantari, the God of Ayurveda🪷🌿

Dhanteras, a significant festival in Hinduism, marks the birth of Lord Dhanvantari, the divine physician and father of Ayurveda. Today, we honor the founder of India's ancient healing science, who gifted humanity the wisdom of natural health and wellness🩺🌿.

The Legend of Lord Dhanvantari

According to mythology, Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the ocean during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) with a pot of Amrit (nectar) and Ayurvedic texts. He is revered as a symbol of healing, compassion, and wellness.

Significance of Dhanteras🪔

Dhanteras celebrates the triumph of good over evil and the gift of health and wellness to humanity. It's an occasion to:

1. Honor Ayurveda: Recognize the importance of natural healing and preventive medicine.
2. Promote wellness: Embrace healthy habits and self-care.
3. Seek blessings: For good health, prosperity, and longevity.

Importance of Ayurveda

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, emphasizes:

1. Holistic health: Integrating physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
2. Natural remedies: Using herbs, diet, and lifestyle to prevent and treat diseases.
3. Preventive care: Focusing on health promotion and disease prevention.

Celebrating Dhanteras

1. Clean and declutter: Purify your home and mind.
2. Worship Lord Dhanvantari: Seek blessings for health and wellness.
3. Embrace Ayurveda: Incorporate natural practices into your daily life.

Let's honor the wisdom of Lord Dhanvantari and the ancient science of Ayurveda. May this Dhanteras bring you and your family health, prosperity, and happiness!

Om Shri Dhanvantri Namaha

Ayurveda says: “Eat what nature grows in your season, in your region.” Seasonal foods are easier to digest, give you the nutrients you need right now, and reduce the carbon footprint of shipping food across the world.

Ayurveda Day, initiated in 2016 by the Ministry of Ayush under the visionary guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, was first observed on 28th October 2016 (Dhanteras), marking the birth anniversary of Lord Dhanvantari.

From 2025 onwards, Ayurveda Day will be celebrated annually on September 23rd, coinciding with the Autumnal Equinox — symbolizing balance in nature and harmony in life.
