Professor Olalekan Ayo-Yusuf, Chair of the School of Health Systems and Public Health at the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Health Sciences, has been honoured with a 2026 World No To***co Day Award by the World Health Organization (WHO) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to global to***co control and public health advocacy.

The award was announced by the WHO on 19 May 2026 as part of its annual World No To***co Day recognition programme, which honours individuals and organisations from across the six WHO regions for exceptional efforts in advancing to***co control and reducing to***co-related harm.

Prof. Ayo-Yusuf was recognised in the WHO African Region category and was one of only two South Africans to receive the prestigious international honour this year. Read more on hsup.co.za
