“Just your age” shouldn’t be where the conversation ends.
Neither should “just stress” or “just get on with it.”
For World Menopause Day, let’s replace assumptions with attention. Your experience matters—including the things you’ve quietly started planning your life around.
You don’t need the perfect explanation before asking for help. Start with: “This is affecting my life.” 💜
Persistent pain deserves assessment, rather than automatically being attributed to menopause.

“I feel fine. There’s nothing to discuss.”
Final answer? 👀
Screening questions, contraception and changes in your health can all be useful conversation starters—even when you’re feeling well.
What care is appropriate depends on your age, history and circumstances. You don’t need a crisis or perfectly prepared questions to start that conversation.
Swipe for the reveal.
Good question, actually. 💗🎀

“The Terms & Conditions”
Apparently somewhere in the Terms & Conditions of Being a Woman, we agreed to just put up with everything every month? 👀😂
Nope. Let's reread that fine print.
“My period has always been like this” tells us how long you’ve experienced something — it doesn’t tell us whether it should be interfering with your life.
Missing work or school?
Cancelling plans?
Planning your month around your period?
Bleeding that feels difficult to manage?
Instead of simply accepting it, let's talk about it. 💗
Because your experience matters — and understanding your story is more useful than simply learning to tolerate it.

“Wait… It’s October?!”
January me: “I'll book later.”
October me: 👀😂
Sound familiar?
The year has a funny way of moving faster than our plans. We make time for work, family, responsibilities and everyone who needs us—while our own health quietly stays on the “I'll get to it” list.
October is a gentle reminder that your time matters too.
If there's a question you've been meaning to ask, a check-up you've postponed or something about your body you've wanted to discuss, make some space for that conversation.
💗 Before everyone needs your time… give some to yourself.

A calendar may give something one day or one month of awareness—but health doesn't follow a calendar. ❤️
September reminded us to talk about screening, reproductive health, mental health, heart health, patient safety, contraception and the many other conversations that can sometimes be easy to postpone.
So as the month comes to an end, here's one reminder worth carrying forward:
Listen to your body. Ask the question. Have the conversation. Make the appointment. Check on someone.
Awareness shouldn't end when the date passes. 💗

Pap smear or HPV test? Are they the same thing? 👀

Not quite!

An HPV test looks for high-risk HPV, while a Pap smear looks for abnormal changes in cervical cells. Different tests, different jobs — and when recommended, they can work together to provide valuable information about cervical health. 🌸

And before you start worrying… there's no epidural required and you won't be spending hours doing it! 😂 Screening is generally quick, though you may experience some brief discomfort.

Not sure which screening you need?
💕 Let's talk. Book your cervical screening consultation today.

She was more than a statistic.

She was someone's daughter.
Someone's sister.
Someone's mother.
Someone's friend.
Someone's colleague.
Someone's whole world. ❤️‍🩹

Across South Africa, too many women and girls continue to experience gender-based violence. Behind every number is a human being, a family, a story, and a future that mattered.

Our hearts are with every woman affected, every survivor finding the courage to continue, and every family carrying the pain of losing someone they love.

We cannot allow violence against women to become something we simply grow accustomed to.

We must speak.
We must listen.
We must support.
We must protect.
We must stand together.

**South African women deserve to live without fear.**

As Dr T Seloka, I stand with women across South Africa.

**We remember. We stand together. We refuse to normalise violence against women.**
