In a world where more and more faces are starting to look the same, individuality has never been more beautiful.

Medical aesthetics should not be about chasing a trend, copying someone else's features, or creating a “perfect” face.
Your face tells your story - and your unique proportions, expressions and characteristics are part of what makes you you.

✨ The goal should be refinement, not replacement.
✨ Enhancement, not transformation.
✨ Balance, not conformity.

As aesthetic treatments become more accessible and social media, AI and filters continue to influence what we perceive as beautiful, it is important to remember that one face cannot - and should not - suit everyone.

My approach is to assess your facial anatomy, proportions and concerns, and create a treatment plan that enhances your features while maintaining the individuality that makes your face uniquely yours.

Because the best aesthetic results shouldn't make people wonder “Who did your work?”

They should simply think:
“You look amazing!”

Your HORMONES can influence your collagen response.

If you’re in peri-menopause or menopause, you may notice that your skin doesn’t respond to treatments in quite the same way it used to.

One reason? Oestrogen.

As oestrogen levels fluctuate and eventually decline, there is a reduction in collagen production, skin thickness, hydration and overall skin quality. This creates a different environment for collagen-stimulating treatments such as PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) bio-stimulators.

PLLA works by stimulating your own fibroblasts to produce new collagen — but it needs your body to have the capacity to mount that response.

This doesn’t mean PLLA “doesn’t work” during menopause. Rather, you may need:

✨ More patience with your results.

✨ A more tailored treatment plan - it's been found that by doing Skinbooster treatments before PLLA on peri-menopausal and menospausal patients, the Bio-stimulator results are better.

✨ Multiple sessions or maintenance treatments.

✨ A holistic approach that addresses skin health alongside collagen stimulation.

And this is why I don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach to aesthetics.

Your age, hormonal stage, skin quality, lifestyle and degree of collagen loss all influence how we plan your treatment.

The goal isn’t to fight ageing - it’s to understand what is happening to your skin and work with your biology.

In peri-menopause or menopause? Your treatment plan may need to evolve with you. Schedule your appointment with Dr Marli to discuss your options.

24/08/2026

Eating something before an aesthetic injection appointment is very important mainly to help you feel comfortable, steady and less likely to feel faint during or after the treatment.

It helps maintain blood glucose: Arriving on an empty stomach can make some people feel shaky, weak, nauseous or light-headed.

It reduces the chance of feeling faint: Needles, anxiety, pain and the treatment environment can trigger a vasovagal response in some patients. Having eaten can help you feel more stable.

It can improve tolerance of the appointment: Even relatively quick treatments such as Tox can feel more uncomfortable when you're hungry, dehydrated or generally run down.

It supports recovery: Your body needs adequate energy and nutrients for normal tissue healing following filler, biostimulators and skinboosters.

It helps with post-treatment symptoms: If you're already hungry or dehydrated, mild post-treatment swelling, tenderness or dizziness may feel more unpleasant.

It doesn't need to be a large meal. A normal, balanced meal or snack 1-2 hours before your appointment is usually sufficient, along with good hydration.

And importantly, eating beforehand doesn't prevent bruising or swelling - those are influenced by the treatment itself, your individual response and factors such as medications and alcohol.

For patients prone to feeling faint, I'd be particularly strict about not coming to an appointment fasting.

If you have any concerns about what to avoid before your injectable treatment, you are always welcome to send Dr Marli a WhatsApp message📱

AGEING IS MORE THAN WRINKLES

When we think about facial ageing, we often focus on the lines we can see.

But ageing happens on multiple levels:

✨ Skin: collagen, elastin and hydration decrease - thinner, drier, less resilient skin

✨ Fat: fat compartments can shrink, shift and descend - changes in facial contours

✨ Bone: gradual bone remodelling reduces some of the structural support of the face

✨ Muscle: changes in muscle activity contribute to expression lines and altered facial dynamics

✨ Ligaments & soft tissue: support changes - contributing to laxity and tissue descent

That’s why treating ageing effectively isn’t always about “filling wrinkles”.

It’s about understanding WHAT is changing, WHERE it is changing and WHY - and choosing the right treatment for that particular concern.

The goal isn’t to make you look like someone else.
It’s to help your face age well, naturally and in harmony with your features.

Because she wanted VA-VA-VOOM!💋💉

Not all facial features allow for full lips, but when that is exactly what the patient wants and I determine that it actually suits her face - I will most definitely do it!

These photos were not taken in the same light or angles and for that reason I normally wouldn't post it. But I think the result is still worth a share☺️

2 Treatments were needed to build the volume in these lips, especially the upper lip. The aim was also a better proportion of the lip ratios.

I did tox in the chin and mouth angles during the first appointment and that has done a lot to relax those muscles.

I expect a beautiful, natural result after the swelling has settled💋

The under-eye area is one of the most complex areas to treat, because not all under-eye concerns have the same cause.

It can be affected by:
✨ Skin quality and collagen loss
✨ Fat pad descent or prominence
✨ Midface volume loss
✨ Dark circles from pigmentation or genetics
✨ Tear trough shadows and changes in facial anatomy

And that’s why there is no one-size-fits-all treatment.

The key is identifying what is actually causing the concern before choosing a treatment - because the right solution for one patient may not be the right solution for another.

Under-eye rejuvenation is about diagnosis first, treatment second.

If your delicate eye area is concerning you, schedule an appointment with Dr Marli to discuss the best options for your needs.

SKINREVIVE - your skin, but better.

SkinReVive is an injectable skinbooster designed to improve skin quality, hydration and radiance - without adding volume or changing your facial shape.

💉 Deep hydration: Hyaluronic acid helps improve skin hydration and smoothness.

💉 Supports Aquaporin-3: SkinReVive has been shown to increase Aquaporin-3, a protein involved in water transport within the skin, supporting improved hydration.

💉 Smoother, glowing skin: Helps improve skin smoothness, texture and overall radiance.

💉 Long-lasting results: Improvements can last around 9-12 months, making it a great option for maintaining healthy-looking, hydrated skin.

Perfect for patients who want a “your skin, but better” result without changing their facial shape.

Needle or cannula? 💉

When it comes to injectable treatments, the choice between a needle and cannula isn’t simply about preference - it depends on the product, area being treated and the treatment goal.

💉 Needle - allows very precise placement and is often preferred when we need accuracy in specific anatomical areas, for example with lip filler, fine contouring or targeted injections.

💉 Cannula - has a blunt, flexible tip and can be useful when treating larger areas, particularly with biostimulators or skinboosters. It allows product to be distributed through fewer entry points and can help minimise bruising and swelling in some areas.

Neither technique is universally “better”. The safest and most effective approach is choosing the right instrument for the right product, area and patient.

It’s all about anatomy, precision and technique - not just the injectable itself.

Most importantly - your aesthetic doctor should be comfortable using both techniques and know when to use which.

If you're ready to start your aesthetic journey, schedule your personalised consultation with Dr Marli today.

Not all neck lines are the same - and they don’t all need the same treatment.

The neck can show several different signs of ageing, and understanding why they appear is key to choosing the right treatment.

✨ Horizontal neck lines (“tech neck”)
These are the horizontal creases that develop across the neck, often becoming more noticeable with repeated neck movement and skin ageing.
Depending on the depth and skin quality, treatments such as skinboosters, bioremodellers and carefully selected filler techniques can help improve hydration, skin quality and the appearance of these lines.

✨ Skin laxity & crepey texture
As collagen and elastin decrease with age, the skin can become thinner, looser and more crepey.
Bioremodellers, skinboosters and collagen-stimulating treatments can help improve skin quality, hydration and firmness over time.

✨ Vertical neck bands (platysmal bands)
These are the vertical cords that become more visible when the platysma muscle contracts.
Anti-wrinkle injections such as can relax the platysma bands and soften their appearance. In some patients, treating the platysma can also create a more defined jawline and subtle lifting effect.

There is no single neck treatment. The best approach depends on whether we are treating lines, skin quality, laxity, muscle activity - or a combination of these.

A personalised assessment allows me to determine what your neck needs and create a treatment plan that looks natural, refined and appropriate for you.
