💡 STAGE WHATEVER: The ideal time for arts and crafts

You know how it goes. Although you have the best of intentions to take up a creative hobby, there’s just never enough time. If only you had an extra hour in your day…

Thanks to loadshedding (yes, thanks to 🤣), you now have that extra hour or two (or three) to spend on arts and crafts! Whether you choose to paint, draw, knit, experiment with origami or create handmade cards, set loadshedding aside as your special time to work on a creative project. Not only is this a great way to relax and express your artistic side, but it can also work wonders to bolster your mood, boost your self-confidence, improve mental agility and combat cognitive decline. 🤩🎨🧶

After hours spent juggling a dozen different tasks in a desperate attempt to stay on top of things, it's no wonder I’m worn out by midnight. Oh, wait. It’s only 6pm. 🤦‍♀️🥴🤣

♂️ MEN’S HEALTH MONTH: Always prioritise exercise

In this fast-paced world, it’s difficult to find the time to exercise. Yet engaging in physical activity for only 150 minutes per week can boost energy levels, decrease your risk of developing cancer and diabetes, lower cholesterol and blood pressure levels, reduce anxiety, stimulate weight loss and improve testosterone levels. Incorporating a combination of cardiovascular exercises (such as jogging, swimming or cycling) and strength training (like weightlifting) will improve your overall fitness level. Whether you’re 25 or 65, exercise is important – so do yourself a favour and make it a priority! 🏃‍♂️🏋️‍♂️🚴‍♂️

🔶 Free PSA screenings* are offered at The Local Choice Pharmacies throughout the month of June. Enquire in-store about the other health checks we offer. We are always here for our men! 🧡

💡 STAGE WHATEVER: Relax and listen to an audio book

Sure, loadshedding is a pain – but at least the schedule gives you ample opportunity to plan and prepare for it. While you have power, download a family-friendly audio book that everyone will enjoy. Then, once loadshedding strikes, gather your family and listen to the story. Encourage everyone to share their thoughts after each chapter or session. Before long, you might even find yourself looking forward to this loadshedding pastime! 📖👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

♂️ MEN’S HEALTH MONTH: Stay connected to friends and family

Studies have revealed that a person’s stress, happiness and well-being levels can be better predicted by the strength of their social circle than by the physical health data collected on a fitness tracker. This Men’s Health Month, make an effort to maintain strong relationships with friends, family and your community. Engaging in social activities and fostering meaningful connections can have a positive impact on your mental and emotional well-being. Remember that relationships do not make you weak; rather, they motivate you to be the best version of yourself.

🔶 Free PSA screenings* are offered at The Local Choice Pharmacies throughout the month of June. Enquire in-store about the other health checks we offer. We are always here for our men! 🧡
