Maybe the hardest person to forgive after a difficult relationship isn’t them.
Maybe it’s you.
For staying after the first red flag.
For believing the apology again.
For giving another chance… and another.
For making excuses for things that hurt you.
For shrinking yourself to keep the peace.
For knowing something wasn’t right but hoping love could somehow make it right.
But you made those choices with the version of you that existed then.
She didn’t know everything you know now.
She was hoping.
She was trying.
She was surviving.
She was doing the best she could with what she had.
So instead of asking, “Why did I stay so long?”
Maybe today you tell her:
“I understand why you stayed. And I’m proud of you for finally choosing yourself.” ❤️
You don’t need to punish the woman you used to be in order to become the woman you’re becoming.
If this hit somewhere deep today, leave a ❤️. You’re definitely not the only one.
