💛 Su***de can be difficult to talk about. There is often fear around saying the wrong thing, stigma around asking for help, and misconceptions about what suicidal thoughts really mean. But avoiding the conversation doesn’t make the pain disappear. Talking can create connection, understanding and an opportunity for help.

The reality in South Africa is confronting:

🖊️23 people die by su***de every day, equating to roughly 14,000 deaths each year.
🖊️An estimated 230–400 su***de attempts occur every day in South Africa.
🖊️Su***de is the second leading cause of death among young people aged 15–29.
🖊️Men account for nearly 80% of su***de deaths in South Africa.

Behind every statistic is a person, a family and a story. This Su***de Prevention Month, let’s challenge the stigma, notice the signs, ask the difficult questions and create spaces where people feel safe enough to say, “I’m not okay.”

If you’re struggling, or worried about someone you love, please reach out.

You don’t have to wait until things become unbearable to ask for help. Help isn’t weakness. Therapy isn’t weakness. Reaching out is a strength. Sometimes, having someone listen without judgement can be the beginning of finding a way forward. 💛

🌸 Hello, Spring. A season of new beginnings. As the flowers begin to bloom, Spring Day can be a beautiful reminder that growth doesn’t always happen overnight.

Sometimes, healing looks like:

🌱 Taking one small step forward
🌱 Setting a boundary that protects your peace
🌱 Giving yourself permission to rest
🌱 Asking for support when things feel heavy
🌱 Letting go of what no longer serves you
🌱 Starting again — without expecting yourself to have it all figured out

You don’t have to bloom on anyone else’s timeline. 🌷 Your mental health journey is uniquely yours, and even small changes matter.

This Spring, ask yourself: “What do I want to nurture in myself over the next few months?”

GRIEF AWARENESS DAY 🤍

Some losses change your life in obvious ways. Others happen quietly, and you’re left carrying feelings you don’t always know how to explain. Grief can be complicated, unpredictable and deeply personal. It can affect your thoughts, your emotions, your relationships and even the way you move through everyday life.

You don’t have to “have a reason” that makes sense to everyone else. If something mattered to you, losing it can hurt. Today, we’re creating space for the grief that isn’t always spoken about — the losses that are often misunderstood, minimised or carried in silence.

Swipe through to learn more about grief and what you need to know 👉🏼
And if you’re struggling to navigate a loss on your own, therapy can provide a safe, supportive space to work through what you’re feeling. You don’t have to carry it all alone. Reach out to us to book a session. 🤍

August is National Wellness Month 🌿 A little reminder that taking care of your mental health doesn’t always look like having a perfect routine, feeling positive, or having everything figured out.

Sometimes, wellness looks like admitting that you’re having a hard day.
Taking a break without feeling guilty.
Saying no when your plate is already full.
Giving yourself permission to slow down.
Or reaching out for support before things become overwhelming.

You don’t have to wait until you’re at breaking point to take care of your mental health. Therapy can be a space to make sense of what you’re experiencing, understand yourself a little better, and develop healthier ways of coping.

So this National Wellness Month, consider this your reminder: you don’t have to do everything, feel okay all the time, or earn the right to rest. Sometimes, looking after yourself starts with simply noticing what you need — and giving yourself permission to honour it.

Swipe through for a few reminders you might need today 🌱👉🏼

🚨 Psychology words are everywhere—but are we using them correctly?

Social media has made terms like gaslighting, trauma, OCD, and narcissist part of everyday conversations. While this has increased awareness of mental health, it's also led to many clinical terms being used inaccurately.

Using these words casually can unintentionally spread misinformation and minimise the experiences of people who genuinely live with these conditions.

Swipe through to discover some of the most commonly misused psychology terms—and what they actually mean. 🧠👉🏼

To every woman reading this...

The world often celebrates your strength. It praises how much you can carry, how much you can give, and how often you put everyone else first. But what about the days when you're exhausted?

The days when you're smiling on the outside but quietly falling apart inside. When you're expected to keep showing up, even though your heart feels heavy. When you convince yourself that everyone else's needs matter more than your own.

So many women carry invisible loads—worrying about their children, supporting ageing parents, holding families together, meeting deadlines, caring for others, and somehow trying to be "enough" in every role they fill.nAnd somewhere along the way, they forget to care for themselves.

This National Women's Day, here's a gentle reminder:

You are allowed to be tired. You are allowed to feel overwhelmed. You are allowed to ask for help.

Your mental health is not a luxury. It is not selfish to protect your peace. It is not weakness to rest. You deserve moments of stillness, joy, healing, and hope.

So today, choose yourself, even if it's just for a few moments.

😔 Social anxiety is more than just shyness.

For someone living with Social Anxiety Disorder, everyday situations—speaking up in a meeting, making a phone call, attending a social gathering, or even ordering coffee—can trigger intense fear of being judged, embarrassed, or rejected. This can lead to avoiding situations altogether, impacting relationships, work, education, and overall quality of life.

Social Anxiety Disorder is one of the most common anxiety disorders, affecting people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. While it often begins during the teenage years, it can develop in childhood and continue into adulthood if left untreated.

The good news is that social anxiety is highly treatable. Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to understand the root of your anxiety, develop practical coping strategies, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and gradually build confidence in social situations. With the right support, it is possible to feel more at ease, connect more authentically with others, and regain control of your life.

💚 During Social Phobia Awareness Week, let's replace misconceptions with understanding and remind those who are struggling that help is available. You don't have to face social anxiety on your own—support and recovery are within reach.

🍃Health is about more than what we can see. While we often focus on physical wellbeing, our emotional and psychological health influences every aspect of our lives—from how we manage stress and make decisions to how we build relationships, work, learn, and care for ourselves.

Mental health is not simply the absence of mental illness. It is our ability to cope with life's challenges, experience a range of emotions, adapt to change, and find meaning and connection.

When our mental health is struggling, it can affect our sleep, energy, physical health, concentration, and overall quality of life. Likewise, looking after our mental wellbeing can improve resilience, strengthen relationships, and support better physical health.

Because there truly is no health without mental health. 🌿

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply need a safe, supportive space to talk, therapy can help. Book an appointment today and take the first step towards prioritising your mental wellbeing.

💛 Mental illness is a real health condition—not a choice, a personality flaw, or a way to get attention. Just like physical illnesses, mental health conditions deserve care, treatment, and compassion.

No one chooses to live with depression, anxiety, trauma, or other mental health conditions. Recovery isn't about "trying harder"—it's about accessing the right support, at the right time. This Mental Illness Awareness Month, let's challenge misconceptions, speak openly about mental health, and create spaces where people feel safe to ask for help.

Let's replace stigma with compassion, silence with conversation, and fear with hope.

If you or someone you care about is struggling, please know you don't have to face it alone. Taking the first step towards therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out. We're here to listen without judgement, support you with compassion, and walk alongside you on your journey towards healing.

📞 Get in touch to book a confidential appointment and take that first step towards better mental wellbeing.
