On Wednesday 28 January 2026 we received a distress call of a lightning strike involving a mother and two children in an informal settlement outside Sasolburg.

After locating the scene we assisted Free State EMS with stabilising a toddler who was carried by the mother when they were struck by lightning. The toddler was transported to a local hospital.

Unfortunately the mother and another 5 year old sibling passed away due to extensive injuries.

We extend our sincerest condolences to the families involved as well as the community.

On Friday 23 January, we received a call of a serious Heavy Motor Vehicle Accident between Koppies and Sasolburg.
On arrival one patient was entrapped in the wreckage and sustained serious injuries.
Based on the severity of the patient's injuries, a decision was made to utilise HEMS to transport the patient to the closest trauma facility.

ROCKET HEMS assisted with the swift transport to the hospital.

We wish everyone involved a speedy recovery.

On 20 December 2025 at approximately 10:00 we responded to a serious motor vehicle accident just outside the Free State town of Petrus Steyn. Our Ambulance crews and Advanced Life Support Paramedic met up with the Free State Department of Health ambulance and immediately jumped into action.

The patient sustained critical injuries requiring a Trauma facility. The decision was made to utilise a medical helicopter to transport the patient.

The Helicopter team from Netcare911 arrived swiftly and continued the critical care of the patient.

It is unfortunate and heartbreaking as we think of the loved ones of the 6 patients that passed away on scene, may you find peace and healing in this difficult time.
