What is cancer survivorship, some of you may ask?

Cancer survivorship is a lifelong journey that begins on the day of diagnosis and continues throughout a person's life. It includes those actively receiving treatment, individuals in remission, and those living with cancer.

Survivorship is about more than reaching the end of treatment—it's about navigating the ongoing physical, emotional, and mental experiences that come with a cancer diagnosis.

Every survivor's journey is unique, marked by challenges overcome, milestones celebrated, and hope carried forward into the future.

Remember, there are more healthy cells in your body than cancer cells. During survivorship, it is important to support your healthy cells, your overall health, wellbeing and lifestyle choices. Including a balanced diet, regular exercise, stress management, a good sleep routine and well selected supplements, go a long way in doing that.

Nutrients with antioxidant properties are essential to support your body’s natural immunity and enhance vitality.

Support Your Immunity—Even After You Feel Better!

Just because your cold or flu symptoms are fading doesn't mean your body has fully recovered.

While you're getting over an illness, your immune system is still working hard behind the scenes to repair, recover, and restore balance. That's why it's important to continue supporting your body's natural defences even when you're feeling better.

Help your recovery by:
• Staying well hydrated
• Eating nutrient-rich foods
• Prioritizing quality sleep
• Ensuring you are taking adequate vitamins and minerals to support immune health.

Recovery is a process, not just the disappearance of symptoms. Giving your body the support it needs can help you regain your strength and get back to feeling your best.

Take care of your immunity today, tomorrow, and beyond.

Why should you support your immune system before you travel?
Have you ever noticed how often you come back from a trip with a cold or flu?

Whether you travel by plane, train, bus or taxi, you are often surround by many people that can be from all over the world. From check-in counters to security queues, you’re constantly exposed to shared surfaces and circulating germs.

For instance, if you fly, you are exposed to recirculated air, trapped in a long can with people coughing and sneezing around you. Also, cabin air is extremely dry, which can dry out your nose and throat—making it easier for germs to enter your system.

When you are away you can also be exposed to different strains of common infections, such as colds, that your body is not used to resisting.

That’s why, taking steps to support your immune system before and during your holiday, can make a positive difference in how you feel, both during your trip and when you return home.

Aspects of everyday life and how they affect your immunity #4

Does stress affect immunity?
Yes, stress can affect your immune system, especially when it becomes chronic or long-term.

During stressful situations, the body releases hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, to help keep you alert and prepared. When stress continues though, your high cortisol levels can begin to weaken your immune system.

Chronic stress may:
•Suppress immune cell activity
•Increase inflammation in the body
•Reduce the body’s ability to fight infections effectively

You may become more susceptible to illness and take longer to recover when you do get sick.

While short-term stress is a part of life, ongoing stress can lower immunity over time. Managing stress through healthy habits such as rest, exercise, and relaxation is just as important as eating well and staying active when it comes to maintaining overall health.

Aspects of everyday life and how they affect your immunity #3

Sugar & Your Immune System.
Too much sugar doesn’t just affect your waistline. It can also weaken your immune system and make it harder for your body to fight off illness.

How does excess sugar impact your body’s immunity, you may ask…
It may reduce the effectiveness of white blood cells which makes it more difficult for your body to fight infections.
This can trigger chronic inflammation, which may weaken the body’s natural defences over time. Sugar can feed any harmful bacteria, with in your gut affecting the important connection between gut health and immunity.

Simple ways to support your immune system:
•Choose whole fruits instead of sugary snacks
•Drink water or herbal teas instead of sweetened beverages
•Read food labels and watch for hidden sugars
•Focus on balanced meals made with whole foods

Less sugar = stronger defences. Your immune system depends on it.

Herbalism isn’t a quick fix

Social media has created this idea that herbs should work like pharmaceuticals.

But that’s not how phytotherapy and herbalism works. This doesn’t mean herbs are ineffective. Medicinal plants contain well-researched compounds and have been used traditionally for generations.

The difference?
Herbalism is slower. More consistent. Less flashy.

It is about:
• Nourishing your body with mineral-rich plants
• Supporting your nervous system
• Caring for your digestion
• Getting enough rest
• Creating simple, daily rituals (like brewing tea)

It is not about chasing a new “miracle herb” or health product every week.
Because the truth is… a single cup of tea will not erase chronic stress, burnout, or poor sleep.
But the habit of care? This matters.
The cumulative act of making herbal tea, pausing for a moment, breathing and hydrating your body, creates a rhythm of self-care.

This is phytotherapy too.

Aspects of everyday life and how they affect your immunity #2

Gut Health & Immunity
Did you know that around 70%-80% of your immune cells are present in your gut?

Your gut is home to trillions of bacteria and microorganisms, collectively known as the gut microbiome. When this microbiome is balanced and healthy, it plays an important role in supporting your immune system by:

•Strengthening your body’s natural defences
•Helping fight harmful bacteria and viruses
•Regulating inflammation

When the gut becomes unbalanced.
This can happen due to poor diet, stress, lack of sleep, or illness, it can weaken the immune response and contribute to increased inflammation in the body.

Supporting your gut health can help support your overall immunity as it plays a key role in maintaining a strong and resilient immune system.

Hydration & Immune Function: Why Water Matters

•Water supports healthy circulation, allowing immune cells to move throughout the body and respond effectively to threats.

•The lymphatic system relies on fluid to transport immune cells and remove waste from the body.

•Well-hydrated airways including the nose, throat, and lungs, create a stronger barrier against germs and infections.

•Water helps the body eliminate waste and toxins through urine, f***s and sweat.
•Hydration isn’t just about being thirsty, it is an essential part of supporting your immune defence system.

Staying hydrated is one of the simplest yet most overlooked ways to support a healthy immune system.
