🧼 Bathroom Bowl Homehack — Detailed Steps
Step 1 — Prepare the bowl
Flush the toilet first. If there is a lot of water in the bowl, allow some to drain so the cleaning mixture can contact the bowl surface better.
Step 2 — Add baking soda
Sprinkle ½ cup baking soda evenly around the inside of the toilet bowl, especially around stained or dirty areas. Leave it for a minute or two.
Step 3 — Add vinegar
Slowly pour ½ cup white vinegar around the bowl. It will fizz as it reacts with the baking soda. Allow it to sit for approximately 10 minutes.
Step 4 — Add dish soap
Add 1 tablespoon of dish soap around the bowl. Use a toilet brush to scrub thoroughly, paying extra attention to the waterline, under the rim, and any visible stains.
Step 5 — Let it work
After scrubbing, let the soapy mixture sit for another 5 minutes to help loosen remaining grime.
Step 6 — Scrub again
Give the bowl another thorough scrub with the toilet brush, including underneath the rim and down toward the drain opening.
Step 7 — Flush thoroughly
Flush the toilet while continuing to brush if needed, allowing the water to rinse away the loosened dirt and cleaning mixture.
Step 8 — Freshen with lemon
For a fresh citrus scent, squeeze a little lemon juice around the bowl, then rinse/flush again. Lemon is optional and mainly adds freshness.
⚠️ Important safety: Never combine this method with bleach, chlorine products, toilet-bowl cleaners, or other cleaning chemicals. Use the vinegar mixture on its own and rinse thoroughly.
