If you wake up anxious, it can feel as though your body has started the day in an emergency before your mind has even caught up.
That tight chest. The racing thoughts. The urge to check your phone, fix everything at once, or hide under the duvet.
Try not to ask yourself to solve the whole day in the first five minutes.
Leave your phone alone for a moment. Breathe out a little longer than you breathe in. Sit up and look around the room. Remind yourself: “I’m here. It’s morning. I am safe right now.”
Then do one small, steady thing. Drink some water. Wash your face. Open the curtains. Put your feet on the floor.
Choose just two things for the morning, not twenty.
Morning anxiety is real, and it can be exhausting. But an anxious start does not mean the whole day is ruined. Sometimes your body needs a little time and kindness before it can settle.
If this is happening often or making daily life feel hard, please speak to a doctor or mental health professional. You deserve support.
