What are piles/haemorrhoids?
Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are swollen and inflamed veins located in your lower re**um or a**s.
What are the types of haemorrhoids?
Internal haemorrhoids:
These form inside the re**um. They are usually painless, but you might see bright red blood on toilet paper.
External haemorrhoids:
These form under the skin around the a**s. They can hurt, itch, or swell.
Thrombosed haemorrhoids:
This happens when a blood clot forms in an external haemorrhoid. It causes severe pain and a hard lump.
What are the symptoms?
Painless bright red blood after a bowel movement.
Itching or irritation in the a**l area.
Pain or discomfort, especially when sitting.
Swelling or a lump near the a**s.
What causes them?
Straining during bowel movements.
Chronic constipation or diarrhea.
Sitting on the toilet for a long time.
Pregnancy and childbirth.
Eating a diet low in fiber.
How can I prevent them?
Eat more fiber:
Eat fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to soften your stool.
Drink fluids:
Drink plenty of water every day.
Do not strain:
Avoid pushing hard or sitting on the toilet for too long.
Use home remedies:
Take warm baths, use ice packs, or apply over-the-counter creams to ease pain and itching
