🦵 Meet Your ACL

Small ligament. Big responsibility.
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sits deep inside your knee, connecting your thigh bone to your shin bone.
Its job is to help stabilise the knee, particularly during movements that involve changing direction, pivoting, slowing down or landing.
Think of it as part of your knee’s internal stability system—working every time you move, even when you don’t realise it.

Understanding your body is the first step to taking better care of it.

Meniscus Tear: The Shock Absorber Inside Your Knee
Your knee has its own natural shock absorbers.
The medial and lateral menisci are crescent-shaped pieces of cartilage that sit between your thigh bone and shin bone. They help distribute load, absorb impact and contribute to knee stability every time you walk, run, jump or change direction.

But a sudden twist or forceful movement can cause the meniscus to tear.
A meniscus tear may cause:
🔹 Knee pain
🔹 Swelling
🔹 Clicking or catching
🔹 Stiffness
🔹 Difficulty fully bending or straightening the knee
Not every meniscus tear requires surgery. Treatment depends on the type and location of the tear, your symptoms, activity level and the overall condition of your knee.
Understanding the injury is the first step towards treating it properly.

Tennis elbow, even if you’ve never played tennis.

Despite its name, tennis elbow isn’t limited to tennis players. Repetitive gripping, lifting or wrist movements can place repeated stress on the tendons attached to the outside of your elbow.

You may notice:
🔹 Pain on the outside of the elbow
🔹 Tenderness
🔹 Pain when gripping or lifting
🔹 Discomfort when moving your wrist
🔹 Reduced grip strength

The condition is commonly known as lateral elbow tendinopathy and is usually related to repeated tendon loading rather than one single injury.
Treatment often focuses on reducing irritation and progressively rebuilding tendon strength through rehabilitation.
If persistent elbow pain is affecting your work, sport or everyday activities, don’t simply push through it.

Find out what’s causing the pain and get the right treatment.

What Actually Happens Inside an Ankle Sprain?
An ankle sprain isn’t simply a “twist.”
When your ankle rolls or turns suddenly, the ligaments that stabilise the joint can be stretched beyond their normal range or even partially or completely torn.

One of the most commonly injured is the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL), which helps keep the ankle stable.
That injury can trigger inflammation, swelling, pain and sometimes a feeling that your ankle isn’t stable.
The good news? Most ankle sprains can be managed without surgery. Appropriate protection, rehabilitation, strengthening and balance training can help restore stability and get you safely back to your normal activities or sport.

But don’t underestimate an ankle injury simply because you can still walk on it.
If pain, swelling or instability persists, a proper assessment can help determine the severity of the injury and the appropriate treatment.

Don’t just treat the pain. Understand the injury.

What Happens When Your Achilles Tendon Tears?

The Achilles tendon is one of the most important structures involved in walking, running and pushing off with your foot.
When it ruptures, the connection between the calf muscles and heel is disrupted. This can make it difficult to push off, stand on your toes or walk normally.

But what happens next?

Depending on the injury and the individual patient, an Achilles rupture may be treated with structured non-surgical rehabilitation or surgical repair.

When surgery is appropriate, the torn tendon can be precisely brought back together using strong sutures. In certain repairs, suture anchors are used to secure the tendon to the heel bone, restoring the connection between the tendon and calcaneus.
And the repair is only the beginning.

Healing, rehabilitation and progressive strengthening are essential to gradually restore movement, strength and function.
If you experience sudden pain or a popping sensation at the back of your ankle, seek medical assessment promptly.

Meet Your Achilles Tendon
Ever wondered what that powerful tendon at the back of your ankle actually does?

Your Achilles tendon connects the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles in your calf to your heel bone. Every time your calf muscles contract, the Achilles transfers that force to your heel, helping your foot push off the ground.

That means your Achilles tendon plays an essential role when you:
✔ Walk
✔ Run
✔ Climb stairs
✔ Stand on your toes
✔ Jump
I
t also has an incredible ability to store and release energy, helping make your movements more efficient.

Your body is designed for movement. Understanding it helps you protect it.

🦶 Meet Your Achilles Tendon

One of the strongest tendons in your body and one you rely on every single day.
The Achilles tendon connects your calf muscles to your heel bone, transferring the force your muscles generate into the foot.

Every time you walk, run, climb stairs or jump, your Achilles tendon helps your foot push off the ground and move your body forward.

Because it carries so much load, Achilles tendon injuries can significantly affect your ability to move.

Pain, swelling or stiffness around your Achilles shouldn’t be ignored.

🚨 Your body often whispers before it starts shouting.

Many people wait months or even yearsbefore seeking help for persistent joint pain or injuries. Unfortunately, delaying treatment can allow some conditions to worsen over time.

If you’re experiencing persistent pain, swelling, stiffness, weakness, numbness or pain that keeps you awake at night, don’t assume it will simply go away.

An early assessment can identify the cause of your symptoms and help you get the right treatment sooner, often leading to better outcomes and a quicker return to the activities you enjoy.

Don’t ignore what your body is trying to tell you.
