On 21st and 22nd May, NHIMA hosted a Media Workshop for journalists and media personnel from Lusaka and Central Province aimed at strengthening collaboration between the media and the Authority in promoting health insurance awareness across Zambia.
The workshop served as an investment in the media as a key channel for communicating NHIMA’s mandate, operations and the benefits of the National Health Insurance Scheme to the public. It also provided an opportunity to deepen understanding of the Scheme, address misconceptions, provide background information on health insurance in Zambia and build stronger relationships with media practitioners.
Key topics discussed included accreditation and access to NHIMA-accredited health facilities, NHIMA’s complaints handling procedure, health financing in Zambia and its history, membership and contributions, NHIMA finances, and the importance of compliance in sustaining the Scheme.
NHIMA remains committed to working closely with the media to ensure the public receives accurate, timely and informative coverage on health insurance and healthcare access in Zambia.
