CAESAREAN SECTIONS AND CHILD BIRTH.
Let's discuss c-sections.
WHAT IS A C-SECTION?
A c -section is a surgical procedure where a baby is delivered through making an incision in the mother's abdomen and uterus.
2 INDICATIONS FOR A C-SECTION .
1) When the baby is too big to pass through the birth canal or the mother's pelvis is inadequate for child birth,we call this cephalopelvic disproportion.
2) When the baby is in breech ie buttocks first,especially if the mother is a prime gravida meaning first time mother.
3)Fetal distress, Sometimes when the labour is prolonged the baby in the womb can get tired and p**p inside the uterus,this is an emergency and baby needs to be delivered fast otherwise they can aspirate the p**p leading to intra uterine fetal death so in cases of fetal distress distress, we don't wait for you to fully dilate which can take hours baby needs to come out quickly so we perform an emergency c- section.
4)Placenta previa, this is when the placenta embeddes downward your cervix, sometimes partially, other times it can cover fully,in such a case it's impossible for you to deliver vaginally and an elective c section is planned for you.
5)Medical conditions like BP in pregnancy ie pre eclampsia or eclampsia which can pose a risk to your child and you and the immediate management is delivery so we can decide to take you for an emergency c -section especially if it will take time for your cervix to dilate or what we call a poor bishop score.
6) Multiple pregnancies ie twins especially if the first twin is in breech position meaning buttocks first and triplets.
These are some of the indications which can make your health care provider take you for a c section.
So undergoing a c - section doesn't mean you are not a woman enough, CAESAREAN SECTIONS are life saving.
