A smile restored. A life reconnected. At just 22, Clara was losing hope of ever having normal conversations again. Hearing loss had made everyday moments frustrating, and isolating.

After receiving hearing aids through our Starkey Hearing Institute in Zambia, Clara didn’t just regain her hearing, she regained her confidence and her joy.

This week, we officially launched training for the Class of 2026 with our WFA® Community‑Based Hearing Healthcare program—the driving force behind Starkey Hearing Foundation’s mission and the essential training that equips our students with the skills to bring hearing care to communities across Africa and the world.

Having our Co‑Founder, Mrs. Tani Austin, join the session made the moment even more surreal. She shared her invaluable knowledge, her passion, and her belief in the impact this work creates.

Last Sunday was one for the books at Starkey Hearing Institute – Zambia.
We had the privilege and honor of welcoming our Co‑Founder, Mrs. Tani Austin, into the building to lead the Train the Trainers session.
She was greeted in true SHI fashion—warm, joyful, and full of heart.
Our Alumni showed up strong, and we were proud to introduce the Class of 2026 to Mama Tani for the very first time.
The energy was powerful. The inspiration was real.

Today we proudly commemorated world hearing day under the theme: "from communities to classrooms - hearing care for every child". In Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, our team came together with one clear mission to ensure that no child is left behind because of hearing loss. We believe access to hearing care is not a privilege it is a right. And today was a reminder that when communities and classrooms connect lives are transformed. Thank you to our incredible 20 Alumni representing 7 African Countries who came together to advance hearing care across Africa.
