ZAMMSA DG Calls for Improved Efficiency in Medicine Distribution
ZAMMSA Acting Director General Liyoka Liyoka has urged staff to improve efficiency to ensure medicines are delivered to health facilities on time.
Speaking during the opening of the Distribution Schedule Review and Planning Meeting, Mr. Liyoka said efficient distribution is key to ensuring the availability of healthcare commodities across the country. He noted that the meeting comes as the institution reviews its distribution performance and plans for the second half of the year.
Speaking on behalf of regional hubs, Mpika Acting Hub Manager Ezekiel Zulu said timely deliveries and pre-positioning of medicines have been included in the distribution plan for hard-to-reach facilities to ensure continued healthcare service delivery.
Mr. Zulu emphased on the need for timely delivery of health center kits and appealed for support in resolving operational challenges affecting regional hubs.
Meanwhile Acting Director of Human Resource and Administration Mazanga Sianga stressed the need for more staff at headquarters and hubs to improve stock movement to health facilities.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Liyoka emphasized collaboration among stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, CHAZ, and GHSC-PSM, saying effective distribution remains central to ZAMMSA’s mandate.
“Distribution remains at the heart of ZAMMSA’s core mandate. No matter how well commodities are procured or stored, our mandate is only fulfilled when medicines and medical supplies reach health facilities. Mr. Liyoka said.
