In July, we had the pleasure of discussing Nexus by Yuval Noah Harari.😌🥳

Nexus takes readers on a fascinating journey through the history of information — from the Stone Age to the age of artificial intelligence.

The book challenges us to think about how information has always shaped societies, influenced power, and transformed the way we live.

A major focus of our discussion was the opportunities and challenges that come with artificial intelligence.

We acknowledged the many ways AI can make our lives easier and more efficient.

But we also reflected on its growing influence on our relationships, our creativity, and our everyday decisions.

As technology becomes more capable, it’s easy to let it fill spaces once reserved for genuine human connection.

Can AI assist us? Absolutely.

But should it replace real conversations, meaningful relationships, and human intimacy? That’s a question worth asking.

One takeaway stayed with us throughout the discussion.

No matter how advanced technology becomes, we must continue investing in what makes us human.

Real conversations. Genuine relationships. Empathy.

Our hosts did an incredible job guiding us through some of the book’s biggest and most thought-provoking ideas.

Imagination. Curiosity. Creativity.

These are gifts that technology can support—but never truly replace.

AI is an incredible tool, but it should strengthen our humanity, not diminish it.

A huge thank you to our wonderful hosts for leading such an engaging and insightful discussion, and to everyone who shared their perspectives.

Nexus reminds us that understanding the future begins with understanding the story of information—and that the choices we make today will shape the world of tomorrow.

Interestingly, the narrator keeps dropping spoilers of what to expect….and somehow it still hits hard😅

The narrator does justice & takes us through the story of a young girl who loves books, while sharing German history.

I definitely recommend it.

The Book Thief is a deeply moving and unforgettable novel that explores the power of words, friendship, love, and hope during one of history’s darkest periods.

I think the book is remarkable because it shows that even in times of war and hatred, kindness and compassion can still exist.

The characters, especially Hans Hubermann, Liesel Meminger, and Rudy Steiner, feel realistic and emotionally compelling, making their joys and losses deeply affecting.

The unique narration by Death gives the story a thoughtful and reflective tone, reminding us readers of both the fragility and resilience of human life.

Overall, I believe The Book Thief is a powerful novel that encourages us readers to value empathy, courage, and the lasting impact of words.

“One thing that stayed with me from this book was the analogy of Max Vandenburg, the hidden Jewish man, imagining himself fighting Hi**er. It is especially sad because the fight feels so uneven: Max is not only fighting one man, but also the hatred, propaganda, and violence that Hi**er represents. In that sense, it feels as though the whole country is against him, which makes the image both heartbreaking and powerful.”
