CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION STARTS VERIFICATION OF HEALTH WORKER APPLICATIONS
By Elesani Phiri
The civil service commission has commenced the verification of applications for the recruitment of health workers following the closure of applications on august 10, 2026.
Commission Chairperson Dr. Choolwe Beyani has told Phoenix News that the exercise is currently underway across all provinces and the commission has not yet established the total number of applications received.
Dr. Beyani explained that the commission cannot, at this stage, provide a timeframe for completion of the verification process, stating that applicants must first be categorized according to specific professions and that the process will also depend on the budget allocation for the quarter once it is announced.
He assured the public that the commission will remain transparent throughout the exercise and will continue providing updates as the verification progresses.
The Civil Service Commission earlier announced that it will employ 2,600 health workers this year, including nurses who were offered employment by President Hakainde Hichilema during his campaign rallies.
