Step-tember 2026 Progress Update – Inter-Mine Challenge

We’ve now reached 41,083,902 steps together across FQM which is 23% of our 180 million step target. The Inter-Mine Challenge is getting close:
🥇 Trident – 13,739,795 steps
🥈 Kansanshi – 12,622,025 steps

That means Trident has taken the lead and is ahead by just 1,117,770 steps! 🔥 Kansanshi still has plenty of time to close the gap, and Trident will need to keep pushing to hold onto the lead.

In the Corporate Office Challenge, the current standings are:
🥇 Lusaka – 5,008,830 steps
🥈 Perth – 1,874,935 steps
🥉 Johannesburg – 1,773,005 steps
4️⃣ London – 682,031 steps

With Lusaka is currently leading over Perth and Joburg, who are neck and neck! 👏

We’re proud to share that First Quantum Minerals has been awarded Health and Safety Campaign of the Year at the Zambia Safety Awards last night 🏆

Our winning campaign, Step-tember, was about far more than just counting steps. It was about building a culture where movement, health, and wellbeing become part of our everyday lives, even within the demands of our workplace.

This achievement is a reminder that an active lifestyle is possible anywhere, and that small, consistent actions can drive meaningful change.

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re reminded that health and safety go hand in hand. A healthy workforce is a happier, more engaged, and more productive one and that’s something worth stepping forward for every day.

At the end of March, we hosted an energising Group Fitness Instructors Workshop in collaboration with Lifestyle Medicine Academy Zim. Over two days, 17 of our instructors came together to grow their skills, expand their knowledge across different exercise formats, and strengthen their ability to deliver high-quality, professional classes.

Our instructors are at the heart of our fitness programme, delivering classes that make a real difference every day (see our schedule!). And this is just the beginning… Keep an eye out for new and exciting classes coming your way!
