Yesterday's tattoo was a really special one; im reminded that tattoos can be really important.

With my clients permission, id like to explain why she went with this design, which we worked on together.

She came to me with this brief : I struggle with anxiety, a lot, and I feel it in the middle of my chest. I want something there to remind me its going to be okay. Something to push back on when I reach to soothe myself.

Water has always been a resource for her; she grew up sailing, swimming, has felt safe near waterfalls and rivers and lakes. So I wanted to include something liquid. Someone told me once that feelings are liquid; they move. That has always helped me, and as a fellow lover of all things water, and someone who struggles with anxiety, I could relate.

Inside the water we included a figure: her little inner child. A little her to soothe and hold while she feels her anxiety move through her.

She asked for a moon to represent her mom - someone who loves all things in the sky, and someone who is also a resource in times of distress.

It was really important to get this one right and take my time on it, and we were both so happy with the outcome.

To anyone else out there struggling with anxiety - I see you. I know how debilitating it can be. You can get through this x
