🟢Disc Herniations and Healing🟢

Awesome post by

🧬 The images in this post are from a case report from the New England Journal of Medicine that documents the spontaneous resorption of a disc herniation without surgery.

🔎Case Study: A 29-year-old women presented to the spine clinic with new-onset pain in her right leg, accompanied by parathaesia. MRI of her lumbar spine revealed a lumbar disc herniation resulting in substantial spinal stenosis and nerve root compression (first image).

📕She elected for conservative treatment with physical therapy and glucocorticoid injections. A second MRI obtained at a 5 month follow-up showed a resolution of the herniation (second image). Her clinical symptoms resolved and she was discharged from the clinic.

🧠The details of this individuals rehab were not given. However, it is important to know that relativity simple conservative treatment programs can help majority of people.

Neck pain and headaches?
..
Your neck is a complex structure consisting of bones, muscles, ligaments, blood vessels and nerves. It serves an important function in supporting your head, which carries your brain and protects the nerves that run down your spinal cord. With such a heavy load to bear, neck pain, neck stiffness and headaches are common conditions osteopathy can treat effectively.
How can we assist?
✔️ Medical case history,
✔️ A physical examination,
✔️ Referral for additional testing if required,
✔️ A variety of techniques to improve joint movement, relax tight muscles and bring down inflammation.

Post surgery rehabilitation ✨
Did you know we can help patients, particularly those whose movement has been affected by surgery in order to regain their pre surgery mobility and life style. Often patients are uncomfortable after surgery, due to the surgery itself, the hospital bed and from being immobilised for a period of time. Gentle osteopathic treatment, physiotherapy and biokinetics can assist with both acute and long term post operative rehabilitation ℹ️
