Me: How did you find me?

Client: Google - the reviews made it hard not to book.

I absolutely love what I do.

Not because I get to “fix” people.

I don’t believe people come to me broken.

I love it because I get a front-row seat to some of the most extraordinary moments in a person’s life.

The moment someone realises they’re not actually asking for too much.

The moment a woman who has spent years questioning herself finally says, “No. That wasn’t okay.”

The moment someone stops explaining the behaviour of the person who hurt them and starts getting curious about themselves instead.

The moment a couple stops trying to win the argument and finally hears what the other person has been trying to say.

The moment someone who has lived their whole life keeping everybody else comfortable starts making decisions based on what they actually want.

The moment the shoulders drop.

The laugh comes back.

The personality starts returning.

The plans get bigger.

And slowly, sometimes almost imperceptibly, their past stops running the entire show.

After a decade in private practice and thousands of conversations, I still never take it lightly that people trust me with the parts of their lives they sometimes haven’t told another person. Ever.

The shame.
The anger.
The relationships.
The parenting.
The things they regret.
The things they survived.
The things they’re scared to admit they want.
The things they’re scared to walk away from.

And I get to sit across from them and say:

Ok. So who do you want to be from here?

THAT is why I became a Registered Counsellor.

And it’s why becoming a Relational Recovery Coach felt like such a natural evolution of my work.

Because eventually it isn’t only about what happened to you.

It’s about your relationship with yourself.
Your relationship with other people.
The standards you hold.
The boundaries you keep.
The life you build.
And the person you become when survival is no longer making all the decisions.

There are days I walk out of my studio absolutely exhausted.

But there are also days I close that door and think…

Damn, I really do love work I do.

What an absolute privilege it is to watch people come back to themselves — and then become someone they didn’t even know they were allowed to be.

Kass xx

It might look like we’re just playing LEGO.
I’m actually learning a whole lot about your child.

When a child sits down to build, I’m not particularly interested in whether they create the “right” thing.

I’m watching how they create.

What happens when something doesn’t work?
Do they persist, problem-solve or immediately give up?

Can they ask for help — or does needing help feel uncomfortable?

How do they manage frustration?

Can they change their plan when their original idea doesn’t work?

How do they communicate what they’re thinking?

Can they follow instructions, negotiate, take turns and work alongside another person?

What happens in their body when they become overwhelmed?

And importantly — how do they recover?

LEGO®-based play gives children an opportunity to communicate without relying entirely on words. It can support emotional regulation, problem-solving, communication, social interaction, fine motor development, flexible thinking, confidence and everyday life skills.

But it also gives me, as their counsellor, an opportunity to understand the child in front of me.

Their strengths.
Their frustrations.
Their resilience.
Their communication style.
Their ability to adapt.
And the places where they may need a little more support.

Because children don’t always sit down and tell us exactly what’s happening for them.

Sometimes, they show us.

And play gives us somewhere incredibly valuable to meet them.

If you’re looking for counselling support for your child and traditional “sit down and talk about your feelings” therapy doesn’t feel like the right fit, contact The Coach and Counselling Studio to enquire about child counselling appointments.

There’s a particular kind of grief that comes with finally accepting that someone can still be alive — and still never become who you needed them to be.

For years, you can keep a tiny door open.

Maybe this birthday will be different.
Maybe they’ll finally ask about you.
Maybe they’ll acknowledge what happened.
Maybe getting older will soften them.
Maybe this time they’ll choose the relationship over being right or needing all the attention.

And you don’t necessarily realise how much of your life has been organised around that maybe.

Until one day, something changes.

You stop trying to explain yourself well enough to be understood.

You stop presenting evidence.

You stop chasing the conversation that will finally make everything make sense.

You stop handing them another opportunity to become the parent you needed.

And THAT can feel like grief.

Not because you stopped loving them.

Because you stopped building your future around the possibility that they might eventually love you differently.

Sometimes closure isn’t getting the relationship you wanted.
It’s no longer waiting for it.

Only one spot left. 🖤

I’ve been wanting to bring experiences into the Studio that go beyond my therapy room.

Something deeper.

Something immersive.

A space where you can put the words down for a while and allow yourself to experience what happens when the noise gets quiet.

The Self You’re Becoming is a 90-minute 9D Breathwork journey focused on self-worth and identity, experienced inside the Salt Haus.

There’s no group sharing.
No having to tell your story.
No performing vulnerability in front of strangers.

You’ll be prepared before entering the room, put your headphones on, settle into your chair — and the experience becomes entirely your own.

There will be two experienced practitioners present throughout, space to debrief afterwards if you need it, and 7 days of aftercare included.

Friday 11 September | 4:30–6:00pm
Salt Haus, Rochester
$295 per person

There is now only ONE place remaining.

If something in you read this and thought I need this — message me.

I’ll send you the details to secure your place. 🖤

You know that horrible feeling when someone you love is disappointed in you?

When you’ve made a decision you actually felt good about…

until you heard the silence.

Saw the face.

Got the short reply.

Felt the shift in the room.

And suddenly you weren’t thinking about whether the decision was right for you anymore.

You were wondering whether you should change it.

Explain it better.

Soften it.

Fix it.

Or just give in so everything could feel okay again.

Because some of us were taught that being a good person meant nobody was ever allowed to be disappointed in us.

So we learnt to bend.
Explain.
Backtrack.
Over-give.
Change our minds.
Abandon ourselves.

Not because we didn’t know what we wanted.

Because someone else being unhappy with us felt like proof we’d done something wrong.

I spent a lot of years believing that feeling.

Now?

You can be disappointed in me.
And I can still be okay with me.

Turns out, sometimes their disappointment is simply what happens when you finally stop abandoning yourself to keep everyone else comfortable. You bend to make yourself happy first.

And…. there is freedom on the other side of
that. 🖤
