You might feel it as tension in your chest, a racing heart, emotional numbness, or constant anxiety. These are signs of your body’s intelligent ways of protecting you.

Talk therapy helps us understand our stories, but the body helps us release them.

The Vagus Nerve Isn’t the Whole Story

You’ve probably heard the tips:

- Try breathwork.
- Cold plunges.
- Hum to stimulate your vagus nerve.

And while some of these can be helpful, they often miss the deeper truth:

→ Your nervous system isn’t a problem to fix.
→ Your vagus nerve isn’t something to “hack.”
→ And healing isn’t a 3-step checklist.

Especially for women, whose systems have been shaped by social conditioning, cycles, caregiving, and emotional labour.

Nervous system healing asks something more sacred:

→ Spaces where you don’t have to be “on.”
→ Relationships that don’t require you to shrink to feel safe.
→ Practices that honour your history, not override it.
→ Support that meets your body, not just your mind.

In my latest journal entry, I offer a grounded look at the vagus nerve, and how we can begin to restore safety and connection from the inside out.
