NextSense

NextSense is a not-for-profit that provides services for people with hearing or vision loss.

We work with both children, adults and their families to educate and create an individual program of care that meets their unique needs. We’re a registered NDIS provider, and we work with you to achieve your goals and potential. With the support of generous donations, NextSense provides vital support for children and adults, more cochlear implants than any other service in Australia, and is a world leader for research, technology and professional education in our field.

A big thank you to the team from Edwards Lifesciences Foundation for spending the day with us at NextSense. Their volunteers assisted in our resource library by sorting, organising & helping create resources for our therapists & families.

This visit follows the foundation’s generous grant funding last year, which helped provide new laptops & iPads for students at NextSense School. We’re grateful for the continued support & generosity 💚

Our School & Preschool came together to enjoy Australian Library and Information Association National Simultaneous Storytime 📖 Luna Roo: the Kangaroo Baller, was brought to life through a dynamic reading, Auslan interpretation, braille & large print, ensuring every child could enjoy the book.

The story was about resilience & overcoming challenges, following spirited kangaroo Luna & her friends as they chase their dreams of playing football. In keeping with the sporting theme, the students also enjoyed a football match ⚽

Adding to the day, many students arrived in their pyjamas to raise awareness for children in foster care 🫶

Sound Exchange 2026 delivered an exciting few days of learning & connection💡

Our therapists enjoyed diving into practical workshops, welcoming fellow audiologists to the NextSense booth & sharing more about the work we do.

NextSense School is opening its doors to children 5-12 years who are deaf or hard of hearing for two exciting days of learning, connection & creativity.

⏰ 8:45am-3:00pm

💲 Free to attend

📍 131 Culloden Rd, Macquarie Park NSW

Students will enjoy engaging activities & immersion in Auslan. Please bring morning tea, a hat & drink bottle. Lunch will be provided, dietary requirements can be included in your RSVP 🥗

Parents & carers are also invited to a special session on Thursday from 1:45pm - 3:00pm exploring the topic of wellbeing when raising a deaf or hard of hearing child.
