NextSense

NextSense NextSense is a not-for-profit that provides services for people with hearing or vision loss.

We work with both children, adults and their families to educate and create an individual program of care that meets their unique needs. We’re a registered NDIS provider, and we work with you to achieve your goals and potential. With the support of generous donations, NextSense provides vital support for children and adults, more cochlear implants than any other service in Australia, and is a world leader for research, technology and professional education in our field.

We were proud to attend the annual Round Table on Information Access for People with Print Disabilities conference 💚

This year's theme, Innovation, Collaboration & Empowerment: Gateways to Information Access, brought together people & organisations committed to making information more accessible.

It was a valuable opportunity to share ideas, learn from others & discuss ways to improve access for people with print disabilities.

Our friends at Vision Australia are holding this fantastic inclusive online storytime during Deafblind Awareness Week next week. Register via the following link: https://www.visionaustralia.org/services/staying-connected/events/2026-06-25/online-sensory-story-time-deafblind-awareness-week

On Thursday June 25, we will be holding an inclusive online storytime as a part of Deafblind Awareness Week.

Together we will read I Am An Artist, a story about a boy who just wants to be creative, and make his mum smile.

Registrations to join this event are now open. After registering, families will receive a practical resource guide with ideas to help turn stories into accessible sensory experiences or books tailored to their child’s unique needs.

Registrations can be made at the following link: https://www.visionaustralia.org/services/staying-connected/events/2026-06-25/online-sensory-story-time-deafblind-awareness-week

It’s Orthoptics Awareness Week, celebrating the theme "Because I am an Orthoptist” 👏

Orthoptists play an important role in supporting vision health across hospitals, community health, research & education. At NextSense, we recognise the expertise of our orthoptists, who work alongside families & multidisciplinary teams to support people with complex vision needs. Thank you for the dedication you bring every day 💚
