I am going to tell you a little about what some big skincare companies do to make their face creams look more generous and luxurious than they really are.
Many face creams contain a very high percentage of water.
Water is often the first ingredient listed, followed by smaller amounts of oils, emulsifiers to hold everything together and preservatives to keep a water based product safe.
Do you really want to pay for water?
Some companies use double walled jars.
The jar may look beautifully large and generous from the outside, but when you reach the bottom, you discover that the actual product was sitting in a much smaller inner well.
Clever packaging, perhaps. But I prefer an honest jar where the size you see reflects the amount you receive.
Many skincare products are mass produced overseas.
Again, that does not automatically mean they are poor quality. But I believe you deserve to know where your skincare was made, what is in it and who made it.

If a cream is white and fluffy, water is often one of its main ingredients. Turn the jar around and read the ingredient list. Ingredients are generally listed from the greatest amount to the smallest, so the first few ingredients tell you a great deal.
