📣 National Meals on Wheels Day 2026 🍽️💙

The Tumut Meals on Wheels team celebrated National Meals on Wheels Day with a street stall in the heart of Tumut, showcasing the valuable services we provide to our community and the delicious, nutritious meals prepared by our dedicated team.

The stall was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local residents, raise awareness of the support Meals on Wheels provides to older people in our community, and encourage new volunteers to join our incredible team.

From hearty meals and tasty treats to friendly conversations, the day highlighted what Meals on Wheels is all about, supporting people to remain independent, connected and well-nourished in their own homes.

A huge thank you to our amazing kitchen team, Emma, Cath and Bailey, for preparing and showcasing the fantastic food they produce, and to Trentan and Chelsea for giving up their time to run the stall and engage with the community throughout the day.

We are incredibly proud of the difference our Meals on Wheels service makes every day and grateful for the staff, volunteers and community members who help make it possible.

Good news for older Australians receiving support at home. From 1 October 2026, personal care services under the Support at Home program will be fully funded by the Australian Government - with no co-contribution.

That means help with showering, dressing and continence support will be covered for eligible people where it's included in their support plan.

The Government has also committed additional funding to release Support at Home packages faster, which is welcome news for people in our region who are waiting.

If you or someone you care for is thinking about support at home, even as an early conversation, now is a good time to start. Getting an assessment underway before it's urgent gives you far more choice.

Our team across Wagga Wagga, Tumut, Lockhart, Goulburn, Queanbeyan, Yass, Cootamundra and Griffith is here to talk it through.
