Let’s talk about the food we eat on retreats
Your retreat with Bala includes all of your meals and non-alcoholic drinks.
Usually, that looks like coffee/tea, juice and light breakfast things like fruit, yogurt and muffins first thing before we practice.
After morning practice we have a full breakfast. Depending on the retreat centre, it can be a buffet, plated or family style meal.
Lunch is the least formal, but still delicious. The freshness of the ingredients is always a priority. The chefs at retreat centres pride themselves on their quality.
Dinner can be à la carte or a set menu, but there’s always lots of options for all diets.
It’s a balance of meals that are comforting and familiar to us and testing out the local flavours and cooking styles.
If you have a special diet or allergy, we can work with it. We often have a mix of vegans, gluten-free folks and those who want their meat and potatoes.
Our upcoming retreat in Belize, we’re looking forward to some of the local cuisine, which is heavily influenced by neighbouring Mexico.
One very delicious and authentic thing we have to try in Belize is a fry jack. Have you had one before?
There are still some rooms available to join us this January in Belize. Check out the info at www.livingbala.com/retreat or send a DM for more info
