I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it really means to listen to our bodies.
Living with chronic illness has taught me that what helps me on Monday might be exactly what I don’t need on Thursday.
Some days my body wants a walk, Pilates or light weights. Other days it wants Tribal or Afro beats and dancing in my living room. Sometimes it asks for heat, a massage or a cool shower. Sometimes it’s nourishing food, peppermint tea, cold pasta or something sweet after dinner.
And sometimes it simply needs a nap, a quieter day, or space to feel what I’m feeling.
Over the years, I’ve collected what I think of as my little “pocket of tools.”
But I’ve realized that the most important tool in that pocket isn’t any one of those things.
It’s learning to ask:
What does my body need today?
I wrote something a little more personal on the Homeopathy in Balance blog this week. 🤎
