As May comes to a close, Iโve been reflecting on the awareness it brought me.
One of the biggest lessons?
Not everything we think is a flaw actually is.
Over the years, Iโve had people tell me I have too many ideas.
That I move too quickly.
That Iโm interested in too many things.
And for a long time, I wondered if they were right.
Maybe I should be more focused.
Maybe I should tone myself down.
Maybe I should be more like everyone else.
But what if the things we judge most harshly about ourselves are actually our gifts?
What if your sensitivity is the reason people feel safe around you?
What if your curiosity is what allows you to see possibilities others miss?
What if your creativity, your big heart, your deep thinking, your energy, your humor, your ability to dream, or your need to move your body isnโt something to fixโฆ
What if itโs exactly what makes you, you?
Iโve come to realize that many of the things we call flaws are simply parts of ourselves we havenโt fully owned yet.
The world doesnโt need more people trying to fit in.
It needs more people willing to embrace what makes them different.
As I move into June, Iโm taking with me a deeper appreciation for the parts of myself Iโve spent years questioning.
