Today was funny.

Yesterday my cousin came in for a massage and, as usual lately, we ended up talking about family history.

She’s been diving into genealogy too and we’ve been talking quite a bit about our shared great-grandfather, Hyrum Alonzo.

I was telling her all about the two family reunions I’m hoping to attend this month.

The cousins reaching out.

The stories I’ve been uncovering.

The Martin Harris reunion.

The reunion in Utah.

How badly I want to go to both.

She immediately went into problem-solving mode and started helping me figure out how I could make it happen.

I love her for that. ❤️

She’s one of those people who somehow helps me believe that anything is possible.

Anyways…

We talked.

We laughed.

We had the massage.

She went home.

Then today happened.

The basement flooded.

People showed up to help.

I got called away to minister to people who needed support.

And somewhere between all of that it suddenly hit me.

Like REALLY hit me.

YOUR COUSIN IS ON THE SAME FAMILY LINE AS THE REUNION.

I literally texted her:

“Oh my gosh! It just dawned on me! The Utah family reunion is your family tooooo!”

She replied:

“Ohhhh. What is the name of it? I want to look it up.”

So I sent her the information and the photos.

The funny thing is that’s what this whole journey has felt like lately.

I pull on one thread.

It leads to a person.

That person leads to a story.

That story leads to another ancestor.

Another cousin.

Another connection.

Another piece of the puzzle.

I started this journey thinking I was researching family history.

Now it feels like I’ve accidentally stepped inside it.

And every day another page turns.

Have you ever felt like your ancestors were trying to get your attention?

Because lately, that’s exactly how I feel.

It started with a message from a cousin I had never met.

Then another.

Then invitations to family reunions from completely different branches of my family tree.

Then I stumbled across healing books passed down from my great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother.

Then came the journals.

The letters.

The testimonies.

The blessings.

The stories.

The names that suddenly became real people.

And now, somehow, I find myself preparing for Kirtland, Ohio.

The funny thing is, I wasn’t looking for any of this.

Yet every time I turn around, another door opens.

Another cousin appears.

Another story surfaces.

Another piece of my family’s history finds its way into my hands.

Sometimes it feels less like research and more like stepping through a doorway in time.

And honestly?

I can’t wait to see where it leads.
