I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to ask for your assistance in distributing the attached call for abstracts for the second 2026 Indigenous Health Research Symposium (IHRS). The success of the 2026 IHRS earlier this year led to this second event. The IHRS is owed to people like you who shared the information through their networks, listservs, and forums, and we would greatly appreciate your help in circulating the call for the Fall 2026 event.

We would also invite you to save the date and attend this free event virtually, or in-person at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus, located in Corner Brook, NL on the ancestral homelands of the Mi'kmaq of Ktaqmkuk On October 1st, the IHRS will bring together people from a variety of disciplines, sectors, and backgrounds to share developments in Indigenous health and research outputs. The IHRS is a public event supported by the WATERR Lab an Indigenous Health Lab (www.waterrlab.ca), the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing, Office of Indigenous Affairs, and more. A website page will be added to the WATERR Lab website once available, so please visit for additional information and updates as they become available.

MMIWG2S+ Day of Rememberence is not just today. It's not a simple act of putting up a red dress or attending one event. It isn't for just Indigenous people to make these events, discuss the problems and move on. All Canadians should be discussing this and other issues that Indigneous Peoples face in which they are disproportionately affected and systemically targeted. Yes have events but think how are we helping families directly? How are people being supported all year. What ACTIONS and TRUTHS will you take on and share all year. So yes we remember, we support but it isnt in the past ..this is a current ongoing daily issue
