If this happened on the first Spirit Fair I was vending at, I would have been likely crying in the bathroom afterwards.
I also wouldn’t have had the guts to ask to be a speaker at that first Fair.
But this is the continuous lesson of someone who wants to make a difference in the world - it requires work.
It requires putting yourself out there, over and over again.
It requires getting your ego hurt, some meltdowns, coaching yourself back into sanity and trying it all over again.
It requires you getting forced to take your own medicine so you can truly embody it.
Things get easier, but the goal post keeps moving, too.
No one will believe in you for you, this is an inside job. Some people will cheer you on and support, but on the darkest days when it seems like no one is listening, it’s only the inner belief in your mission that will let you keep going.
I can’t say I always love this rollercoaster, but I can’t imagine going back.
So, whatever you’re doing, just keep going. Cry, stomp, spew the curses.
Then take a breath, and keep going.
