Want to be physically active with arthritis but have no idea where to start? Try to move in short 'snacks'; where you focus on several different low-impact exercises as you go about your day.

That's what Arthritis Research Canada's Dr. Manuel (Manny) Ester advocates for in Just One Move, an online platform that helps make physical activity more accessible and sustainable for people with arthritis.

As part of our MOVE with Arthritis Research, which is a national fundraising challenge presented by Beachcomber Hot Tubs, Dr. Ester will lead a free virtual exercise session on September 24 at 10 a.m. PST. He'll share exercises to improve mobility and balance for people living with arthritis.

The session is only available to MOVE participants. Register for MOVE to receive the link: MOVEwithArthritisResearch.ca

What questions about osteoarthritis that occurs after a joint injury need to be answered most urgently?

Research is most impactful when it addresses the questions that matter to the people who will ultimately use or benefit from it. That's why the Osteoarthritis Research Society International ( ) discussion group is inviting people with diverse perspectives to help identify the highest priorities for future post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) research.

We are looking for:
• People who are at risk of PTOA (joint injury) or living with PTOA
• Caregivers
• Healthcare providers
• Researchers (spanning all research domains)
• Representatives of organizations involved in healthcare policy, funding, or advocacy

Participation involves two online surveys (~1 hour in total, completed 2–3 months apart).

If you're interested in helping shape the future of PTOA research, we'd love to hear from you.

Please consider sharing this post with your colleagues and networks so we can hear from as broad, diverse, and international a group as possible.

Serious autoimmune diseases like systemic sclerosis and lupus can cause damage to many organs, including the skin, lungs, and kidneys. Many available treatments don't work well for everyone with the disease.

We are studying a promising treatment to better control these diseases by targeting the immune cells that cause them. Find out more: https://ow.ly/ZWLO50ZA21Z

There are more more people faking being well than faking being disabled. 💜

Image description: a stylized digital illustration on a soft peach background features a person seated in a manual wheelchair exercising with their arms extended horizontally to either side. The person has short dark hair and is depicted in shades of teal, black, and purple, wearing a purple top and black pants. The wheelchair is illustrated in purple and teal with prominent wheel spokes.

Large purple text appears above and below the figure and reads: “There are far more people faking being well than faking being disabled.”

At the bottom of the image, in orange text, is the handle: “.”

✨🌸✨

Image description: a vertical infographic with a soft cream background decorated with simple, pastel botanical illustrations, including pink flowers, green leaves, and mustard-yellow abstract shapes around the edges. Centered near the top, large dark green text reads:

“JULY IS DISABILITY PRIDE MONTH"

Below, smaller text says:

“Please keep in mind…"

Five empty checkbox icons appear alongside the following reminders:

Not all disabilities are visible.

If someone says they're disabled: listen to them. No one should have to lay out their entire medical history to be listened to.

No one is "too young" to be disabled.

Stop suggesting "cures" for a disability you know nothing about: "Have you tried yoga?"

“Disabled" is not a dirty word.

In addition to women being more likely to live with autoimmune forms of arthritis, they also face big life stages like pregnancy and menopause.

We work with patient partners like Eileen Davidson and Nikki Bhatti on studies about arthritis and women's health. Dr. Mary De Vera's work explores medication use, pregnancy, and women’s health outcomes.

We’d love to hear from you:
How has arthritis shaped your health journey? What questions about women’s health and arthritis do you wish were studied more?
