Alberta June bike life is straight hit or miss. This nonstop rain is pi***ng all over the season, but the second a dry window opens up I’m firing up the Indian and hammering the pavement hard. No whining - just throttle and miles.
Who else is out there battling this bu****it weather on two wheels? Drop a 🔥 if you’re pushing through like a man.

Two months ago, Sid had never deadlifted in his life. As a roofer, he was constantly lifting heavy loads, but years of that work had left his posterior chain weak and his lower back vulnerable.

He was already training at a commercial gym, but it was the classic bro split - chest and arms, nothing that actually helped his job or his longevity.

So we started with the basics: building a rock-solid posterior chain. We drilled hinge patterns, taught him how to pick heavy stuff off the ground safely and powerfully, and bulletproofed that lower back.

Fast forward to today and this guy is pulling serious weight with focus, intensity, and perfect form. I’m genuinely proud of the work he’s put in.
If you’re a blue-collar guy who wants to stay strong on the job and in the gym, this is what it looks like. DM me if you’re ready to train like your work depends on it - because it does. 💪

Pushing limits with Twila and Renee on deficit deadlifts today!

These two strong women have very different body shapes and leverages, so their setup and ex*****on look unique - but both are crushing a massive range of motion. To really challenge them and deepen the deficit, I elevated them on 2 45lbs plates. This variation absolutely torches the hamstrings and glutes while building serious posterior chain strength and resilience.

Respect to both for owning their individual mechanics and grinding through the tough reps. Progress looks different on every body, and that’s what makes training so powerful. 💪

Got under the pendulum power squat today and loaded some serious weight. Hit 3 solid sets of 8 with 4 plates, feeling strong.
Then for sh*ts and giggles I decided to try 5 plates. Got it unracked and moved it pretty damn easy with the legs… but I felt a heavy compression in my lower back that made me think twice, so I only got 3 reps and called it.
Next session I’ll try not to be such a p***y - time to actually go for it. 💪

Same Exercise. Different Bodies. Different Results.

Here’s Twila and Sid both performing the Kneeling Hamstring Curl - a fantastic movement that targets the upper hamstrings (from the knee up toward the glute insertion point).

This is essentially the reverse of a traditional lying leg curl. By kneeling on the bench with your lower legs anchored under a pad or roller, you emphasize a powerful contraction in the upper portion of the hamstrings that’s tough to hit with standard curls.

How to do it:
• Kneel on a bench with ankles/lower shins secured
• Brace your core and control the descent
• Drive back up by squeezing your hamstrings hard
• Focus on the stretch at the bottom and peak contraction at the top

I coached both Twila and Sid with the exact same technique and cues, but their results look different because of their unique body types, strengths, leverage, and training backgrounds.
That’s the beauty of training - same principles, individual expression.

Progress looks different on everyone. The key is consistent effort + smart programming.

Who’s adding this to their next leg day?

Still got that old man power!
At almost 50, I can still move solid weight with full range, lock in on the knees, and feel strong as hell. That’s never been the issue. What’s changed is how tough it is to pack on leg mass like I used to. My quads still have decent size and visible cuts, but it’s just not responding the same. Back, shoulders, arms, and chest are holding up well and I’m grinding the weak points consistently.
Strength keeps climbing though, and at this age that’s what matters most. Muscle mass is great, but real power and functional strength are the priority. Never stop moving heavy weight safely.
Who else is in their 40s/50s and still grinding?

Morning Graduation Mass
Today, we celebrated my third child’s graduation - just one more to go!
I’m incredibly proud of Lilli for so many reasons, but especially for her remarkable journey these past four years. She came to Canada speaking zero English, embraced a completely new culture, and worked hard to learn the language so she could communicate and thrive.
Even more meaningful, she became a practicing Christian, developed strong values and beliefs, and built wonderful friendships along the way.
I’m beyond impressed with her and love her so very much. ❤️
