We’re sharing another Job Ad Glow-Up! These before-and-after examples show how small language changes can remove barriers and invite more candidates to apply.

This week’s example is about describing movement and ergonomic needs accurately.

Many people with disabilities need movement breaks or ergonomic adjustments to work safely and comfortably. This reframing reduces barriers and communicates that your workplace is open to supporting diverse physical needs.

We support micro businesses!
We work with lots of people across Grey/Bruce with a huge variety of skill sets and we consider ourselves so lucky to be able to support those that have a creative passion and are driven to start their own micro business.
On September 12th Life Directions have a booth at the Owen Sound farmers market between 8am-12:30pm. We are featuring a couple of local creatives showcasing their beautiful work. Come by our booth and meet the makers, browse their collection and maybe buy a couple of pieces as a little treat for yourself!
Buying from a small business not only supports a real person, their passion and goals but also keeps your money, creativity and opportunity within your community.

If you are an individual living with a disability or significant barriers to employment and have questions about how Life Directions could help you move forward give us a call at 519-378-5514 or email [email protected] / [email protected]

You are not asking for a favour when you ask for a fair chance to work.

People living with disabilities are already contributing to workplaces across Canada. They are solving problems, helping customers, building products, supporting teams and using skills that businesses need.

You deserve the same opportunity to be seen for what you can do.
Maybe you need help finding the right type of job. Maybe you are worried about explaining a disability, employment gap or accommodation need. Maybe you have not worked before, or your last job did not go well. None of that means meaningful employment is out of reach.

Life Directions Employment Supports works with you as an individual. We can help identify your abilities, explore suitable job options, prepare for applications and interviews, connect with employers and support you as you adjust to a new workplace.

You do not need to fit someone else’s idea of the “perfect employee.” You need an opportunity where your strengths are useful, your needs can be discussed, and you have room to succeed.

Follow our Facebook or Instagram page if you are looking for employment support or if you have a friend or family member who may be interested in working with us. Share our page with them so they can learn about the help available when they are ready.
Your path may look different. It can still lead somewhere meaningful.

Somewhere, an employer is struggling to fill the kind of work you could do well.
Across Canada, businesses in manufacturing, skilled trades, service, health care and many other industries are looking for reliable people. At the same time, capable job seekers are being overlooked or applying for positions that do not use their strengths.

That gap matters.

You may be good with your hands, patient with customers, comfortable with routines, skilled with technology, detail-oriented, dependable or able to solve problems others miss. Those abilities have workplace value even if you are unsure how to put them into a resume or talk about them during an interview.

Life Directions Employment Supports helps job seekers identify those strengths, explore where they could be useful and connect with employers. We can help you prepare for the hiring process and discuss what may help you succeed once you are working.

This is not about pretending every job will be the right fit. It is about helping employers see what you can do and finding opportunities where your abilities are genuinely needed.

Follow Life Directions on Facebook or Instagram to learn more about employment options, job-search strategies and support for people living with disabilities or other barriers to work.

If someone came to mind while you were reading this, tag them, send them the post or invite them to follow our page. One connection can open a door they did not know was there.

Canada is preparing for a worker shortage, and you should not be made to feel like there is no place for you.

By 2031, Canada could be short 2 million workers. That means workplaces will need people with different abilities, experiences, backgrounds and ways of thinking.
The difficult part may feel like figuring out where you fit.

Maybe you have been out of work for a while. Maybe your health or personal circumstances have changed. Maybe you need different hours, a different environment or a job that uses your strengths more effectively. You may not know what kind of work would suit you now and that is completely okay.

Life Directions Employment Supports can help you look at what you do well, identify skills from previous jobs and life experience, explore realistic job options and prepare for the next step. The goal is not to push you toward just any available position. It is to help you move toward work that makes sense for your abilities, needs and goals.

There is a place for what you can contribute, even if you have not found it yet.
Follow Life Directions on Facebook or Instagram for employment tips, encouragement and information that may help you see new possibilities.

A disability does not erase your education, your experience or everything you know how to do.

You may have a diploma, degree, trade certification or years of hands-on experience and still feel like employers are not seeing what you could bring to the job.
Sometimes the challenge is not a lack of ability.
It is knowing how to explain your strengths, getting through a hiring process that was not built with you in mind or finding an employer willing to look beyond the usual checklist.

Life Directions Employment Supports can help you recognize the skills you already have, strengthen your resume, prepare for interviews, explore suitable jobs and connect with employers. Support does not automatically end once you are hired, either.

We can also help with workplace needs so you have a stronger chance of succeeding in the role.
You have more to offer than a piece of paper can show. Your skills deserve to be seen.

Follow our Facebook or Instagram page for practical employment advice, job-search support and information about opportunities for people living with disabilities or other barriers to employment.

If this sounds like someone you care about, share this post with them. It may be the reminder they need to take another step.
