This evening, I will be at the Valley East Library for our free Wednesday meditation.

No registration. No experience needed. Just come as you are.

We will sit together, breathe, and use some simple tools to help the mind settle. It is one of my favourite evenings of the week.

For years, people came to the Valley East Library on Wednesday evenings not because life was easy — but because it wasn't.

They came through grief. Through the weight of raising families while working full time. Through anxiety that made it hard to express what they were feeling.

And they kept coming back.

Something I want you to try right now — before you keep scrolling.

Think of one thing you have done well recently. Not perfectly. Just genuinely.
Now be present to your experience.

What do you notice? Is there more space? More ease? A sense of possibility that wasn’t there a moment ago?

This is not positive thinking. It is your nervous system being allowed to rest.

And here is what I have noticed: the more you play with praise, the more you see you have a choice in every moment. Not just a choice about what you do — but a choice about where you put your attention. Whether to be hard on yourself or to offer praise instead.

Praise brings you back to a new moment. Full of possibility.

Most women do not come to this work because they want to “be spiritual” or become a different person.

They come because they are tired.

Over the years, I have noticed that many professional women are carrying far more than anyone realizes. Their minds rarely stop. Their nervous systems are always on. And somewhere underneath all of that, they miss themselves.

This carousel gives you a real look at what we move through in the 6-week Stillness & Shine series — week by week.

Week 1 — learning how to arrive and settle
Week 2 — understanding the mind with more compassion
Week 3 — working gently with the body and nervous system

Just came back from a beautiful walk… sunshine, blue skies, a lovely dog, and an unexpected conversation with a woman I met along the way. We connected instantly — yoga, retreats, awareness, possibility. One of those simple moments that reminds me how much beauty exists when we actually slow down enough to notice it.

And then I came home to this.

My little garden quietly continuing to show up.

The purple flowers are back again… and the tulips are almost ready to open.

Every spring I’m reminded that nature does not force its timing. Nothing is rushing. Nothing is trying to prove itself. And yet… everything knows exactly when to bloom.

There is something deeply comforting about that.

Lately I’ve been thinking about how often we believe we need to push harder, figure everything out, or have all the answers before we can fully show up in life.

But maybe sometimes growth looks more like this: a walk, a conversation, a little sunlight, flowers slowly opening, and remembering that life is already moving.

Quietly. Naturally. Beautifully.

Stillness first. Then life. 🌷💜

When I first learned to meditate, I thought I was doing it wrong.

My mind was loud. Thoughts kept coming. I felt restless instead of calm.

Nobody told me that was completely normal. Nobody told me the practice was not about stopping the thoughts. It was about changing my relationship with them.
That one shift — from fighting the mind to allowing it — changed everything for me. Not overnight. Over time. Gently.

I have been teaching this for 25 years now. And the thing I hear most often in the first weeks of practice is:

“I thought I was doing it wrong.”

You are not doing it wrong. You are just beginning.

This morning I heard something that landed quietly and stayed.

*Gratitude shifts your mindset. When you focus on what you have, your mind moves from lack to abundance. Gratitude brings peace, clarity, and a more positive outlook on life. The more you appreciate, the more you attract to appreciate.*

I teach gratitude — and I have experienced this to be true in my own life.

The more grateful I am, the less I resist my world.
And the less I resist — the more I receive.
In relationships. In business. In what I can only call miracles.

A few weeks ago I stepped outside and saw my crocuses.

After a long northern winter, there they were — yellow and white, pushing up through the old leaves and frozen ground. No effort. No straining. Just life, returning exactly when it was ready.

That is what gratitude feels like to me. A quiet opening. Something softening. Life coming back in.
