🍑 Feel them on the first.

A new month = your little reminder to check in with your breasts.

Breast self-awareness isn’t about searching for something wrong, it’s about getting familiar with what’s normal for YOU, so you’re more likely to notice if something changes.

Not sure what to look or feel for? The Know Your Lemons app is one of our favourite resources for simple, easy-to-follow breast self-check guidance.

I’ve been a little quieter online lately… and a little busier in the garden. 🌿

There is something about digging in the soil that settles my mind. No matter how full my day or how busy my thoughts are, the moment my hands are in the dirt, everything slows down.

I’m definitely not a master gardener. I’ve lost plenty of plants over the years (more than I’d like to admit 😅). But every season teaches me something new, and little by little, confidence grows right alongside the flowers.

Research even suggests gardening can help lower stress, improve mood, and increase serotonin - one more reminder that some of the best medicine doesn’t come in a bottle!!

This year I ditched the veggies and decided to grow flowers, which has been a joy! What are you growing this year? 🌸🌱 I’d love to hear what’s thriving in your garden.

Book your appointment in July or August and we’ll thank you with a $25 ThermoShop gift voucher toward a purchase of $75 or more.

🙋‍♀️ One of the questions we hear most is:

“What’s the difference between a mammogram, breast ultrasound, and thermography?”

The answer is simple: they each provide different information and can all have a role in breast health.

Swipe through this carousel for a quick comparison of what each test looks for, along with the benefits and limitations of each.

Have questions about whether thermography is right for you? Our registered nurses are always happy to offer a complimentary consultation. 💛

If breast cancer doesn’t run in my family... am I still at risk? 🤔

It’s one of the questions I hear most often, and the answer surprises many women.

Almost 80% of breast cancers are considered sporadic, meaning they happen without a known inherited genetic mutation.

That doesn’t mean genetics aren’t important, they absolutely are for some families!

However for most women, breast cancer risk is influenced by a combination of factors including age, hormones, breast density, lifestyle, reproductive history, environmental exposures, and yes... sometimes simply chance. 👎

Understanding your personal risk is about looking at the whole picture, not just your family tree.

Knowing your risk can help guide decisions about:

• breast screening
• lifestyle changes
• genetic testing (when appropriate)
• conversations with your healthcare provider

Every woman’s risk profile is different.

💛 Were you surprised by this statistic?
Save this post for future reference, and share it with someone who might benefit from knowing that family history is only one piece of the puzzle.

As a breast health nurse, women often ask me:

“What do you actually do to support your own breast health?”

These are the habits I come back to again and again. Not because they’re trendy, but because they’re supported by research and they’re realistic enough to stick with over time.

🫘Prioritize fibre
🏃‍♀️ Move my body regularly
🍷Limit alcohol
🥦Eat cruciferous vegetables most days
🌸Know my breast density and personal risk factors

None of these habits can guarantee that breast cancer won’t happen. But together, they can help support overall health and may reduce risk.

Remember, it’s not about being perfect. Small, consistent choices really do add up.

✨ Which one are you already doing? And which one would you like to work on? Let me know in the comments.

❤️ Save this post so you can come back to it later—or share it with someone you love.

It feels strange to share something beautiful while so much of our planet is hurting.

But maybe that’s exactly why we should.

This place reminds me to slow down, breathe deeply, and remember what’s still here.

May we never become so overwhelmed by the world’s pain that we stop noticing its beauty - or forget that it’s worth protecting. 🌎🍃

I’d love to know where your favourite place in nature is. Better yet, share a photo of it today. Let’s fill our feeds with reminders of what we’re working so hard to protect. 🫶🌳

Can anyone guess where this beautiful spot is? 👇

Today’s weather is no joke. 🥵

Between the extreme heat and poor air quality from wildfire smoke, many of us are spending the day feeling tired, sluggish or headachy.

Heat and wildfire smoke are affecting much of Ontario today, with health officials recommending limiting strenuous outdoor activity and staying well hydrated.

Remember that when you’re sweating, you’re losing more than just water, you also lose important electrolytes like sodium and potassium.

One of my favourite simple options is a homemade electrolyte drink:

🍋 2 cups water
🧂 ⅛–¼ tsp sea salt
🍯 1–2 tsp maple syrup or honey (optional)
🍋 Fresh lemon or lime juice

If you’d rather use a ready-made product, here are a few Canadian favourites with simple ingredients:

* Cira Hydration (my favourite flavour is Watermelon Sugar!)

* Organika Electrolytes

* Vega Sport Electrolyte Hydrator

💛 Electrolyte drinks aren’t necessary for everyone every day, but they can be helpful during prolonged heat, heavy sweating, exercise, or if you’ve been working outdoors.

How are you staying cool today? 🌿
