🌿 **MASSAGE THERAPY IS HEALTH CARE** 🌿
Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) is more than simply a relaxing massage. It is a regulated health profession that can involve assessment, therapeutic treatment, education, and individualized care.
# # # 👐 WHAT CAN BE INCLUDED?
**🩺 Assessment**
Your RMT may:
• Take a health history and discuss your concerns
• Assess posture and movement
• Evaluate range of motion
• Perform appropriate orthopedic and functional tests
• Develop an individualized treatment approach
**💆♀️ Manual Therapy**
Depending on your needs, treatment may include:
• Swedish massage techniques
• Therapeutic/deeper-pressure techniques
• Trigger point techniques
• Myofascial techniques
• Other hands-on techniques within the RMT's education, training, and scope of practice
**🔥❄️ Therapeutic Modalities**
When appropriate, treatment may also include:
• Hot or cold applications
• Hydrotherapy
• Therapeutic stretching
• Remedial exercise
• Self-care recommendations and home-care programs
# # # 🚫 WHAT RMTs DO NOT DO
Massage therapists do **not** replace your family doctor, physiotherapist, chiropractor, or other health-care provider.
RMTs do not:
• Provide medical diagnoses outside their professional scope
• Prescribe medications
• Perform spinal or joint adjustments/cracking as a chiropractic procedure
• Perform skin-puncturing techniques unless specifically authorized and permitted within their professional scope
• Provide treatments or modalities that are outside their authorized scope and competence
# # # ❤️ YOUR HEALTH. YOUR BODY. YOUR CARE.
Massage therapy can be an important part of a person's overall health and wellness plan. Your treatment should always be based on your individual health history, goals, comfort level, and clinical needs.
