🧠 Concussion Awareness Month
Brain injury is often an invisible injury.
A person may look well while experiencing significant changes in cognition, mood, behaviour, sleep, physical functioning, and their ability to manage everyday activities.
Concussion and brain injury symptoms can affect work, relationships, independence, and quality of life—even when there are no obvious outward signs.
At Rehab First, we recognize that recovery is unique to everyone. Our multidisciplinary team provides evidence-informed rehabilitation to support individuals in managing symptoms, developing strategies, working with support systems, navigating resources, and working toward greater function and independence.
Not all injuries are visible. Every injury deserves to be understood.

đźš— Ontario Drivers: Have You Reviewed Your Auto Insurance Since July 1?

At Rehab First, we see firsthand how a serious motor vehicle collision can change a person’s life in an instant. Recovery often involves much more than medical treatment—it can affect your ability to work, care for your family, attend school, and maintain your independence.

As of July 1, 2026, important changes to Ontario’s Statutory Accident Benefits mean that many benefits are no longer automatically included in your auto insurance policy. Instead, they are now optional benefits that you must choose to purchase when you buy or renew your policy.

Some of the benefits that now require you to opt in include:

• Income Replacement Benefits – Financial support if injuries prevent you from returning to work.
• Non-Earner Benefits – Support for students, recent graduates, caregivers, retirees, or those who are unemployed whose injuries significantly affect their normal lives.
• Caregiver Benefits – Assistance if you’re unable to care for your children or another dependent because of your injuries.
• Housekeeping and Home Maintenance Benefits – Support with essential household tasks while you recover.
• Death and Funeral Benefits – Financial assistance for families following a fatal collision.

While medical, rehabilitation, and attendant care benefits remain mandatory, many of the financial supports that can make recovery possible are now a personal coverage choice.

Our message isn’t meant to create fear—it’s to encourage informed decisions. A few minutes reviewing your policy with your insurance broker today could make a meaningful difference if the unexpected ever happens.

At Rehab First, our multidisciplinary team is committed to helping individuals and families navigate recovery after serious injury. We hope you never need our services—but we also want you to have the protection you deserve if you do.

đź’™ Take a moment to review your coverage at your next renewal and ask your broker which accident benefits are right for you and your family.

June is Brain Injury Awareness Month.

At Rehab First, we recognize that brain injuries are often an invisible injury, with challenges that may not be immediately apparent to others. Behind every recovery journey is a person navigating physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychological changes that can impact every aspect of daily life.

This month, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our dedicated staff and clinicians, whose expertise, compassion, and commitment help support clients through some of the most challenging periods of their lives. We also thank our clients for their resilience and determination, and our community partners for their ongoing collaboration in helping individuals access the care and resources they need.

Brain injury recovery is rarely a straight path, and increased awareness helps foster understanding, reduce stigma, and create more supportive communities for those living with the lasting effects of brain injury.

Together, we can continue to shine a light on the silent struggles many individuals face and advocate for greater awareness, education, and support.
