Dr. Taylor Bean, ND I am Canadian licensed naturopathic doctor working in Salmon Arm BC Canada. I have a focus in Autism I practice with integrity, compassion and respect.

I have always enjoyed learning the uniqueness of the human body - how each system, be it anatomical or emotional, plays an intricate role in maintaining the strength of our body. Anyone that steps out to ask questions, even the most innocent question around vaccines, will typically experience some sort of push back.

From troll-like responses to shaming you for asking. You get the worst of the worst when you dare to ask anything about 💉

Every day I see the most awful posts about people who question or pause vaccinations

How could anyone think that bullying someone for asking questions or doing something different for their family, would ever result in someone changing their mind to vaccinate?

Well it used to work. Fear and bully someone into vaccinating is what Covid did. Covid created a monster. And that monster just keeps getting bigger.

The result? The majority cannot be bullied anymore.

This is WHY I have stayed in the arena of vaccines for so long. WHY I have dedicated years to understanding all that I can so I can answer my patients questions.

I didn’t choose to make vaccines a focus in my office. It chose me. Or rather, I seemed to the first person for many families, now over 1000 in ten years, that doesn’t dismiss every question and concern that a parent asks around vaccines.

Social media is getting louder and louder by the day with more paediatricians to obstetricians entering the conversation around vaccines. And from my perspective, it is really fascinating.

Never did it seem before that particular healthcare providers cared to entertain a conversation around vaccines. And there are quite a few with their thoughts these days. The thoughts never include parents and their concerns. But rather several ways of saying “we are the experts in this area and we follow the science”. Ok. You may be an expert when it comes to complicated surgeries to emergency medicine. Thank the high heavens there are experts in different fields for these specific areas. But an expert in vaccines? Unfortunately no.

Vaccines are not part of anyone’s training. There. I said it. You do not need extra training if you administer vaccines. There is nothing complicated you need to understand. Understand the infections and the schedule (and how to store vaccines). That is the bulk of it.

The only true experts are vaccinologists - however their expertise is in manufacturing vaccines, phase I-III clinical trials (so they are scientists determining efficacy and safety) to cold chain operations.

I have found over 10 years being in this space, there are nuances to vaccines that most no one understands. Why? Because they don’t have to. And will dismiss your questions because they don’t have to know anymore than what they were taught.

The announcement 📣 has come in: the USA Federal government has announced the MMR will be split into 3 different vaccines, given at separate times.

In 2013 I moved to Singapore and learned it was common to access the Measles vaccines as a single vaccine, which came in from Japan. This was COMMON. I thought it was a great for people who either only wanted Measles or only wanted to boost Measles titres (antibodies). Why would you have less options for your country? Have more options.

Moving back to Canada I quickly learned how very little options this country has. Essentially one option for each vaccine.

To think there are Medical professionals who are upset at this change. I have learned incredibly quickly how stuck North America is in specific medical procedures to medical advancements. I moved to singapore pregnant and obstetricians routinely checked their patients for MTHFR. It’s 2026 - do you think it is common sense for Canadian obstetricians to even know what MTHFR is? 😎

North America is about 20 years behind several medical procedures. And splitting the MMR up is one of them.

Am I behind this change? Absolutely. I have lived in a developed country with few Rubella and Mumps cases while they offered Measles as a single vaccine. I lived in a country with millions of people in a humid climate with low infection rates.

Having more options is not a bad idea. It is actually an advancement.

As many of you may have seen, Dr Fauci was subpoenaed on July 29 2026. He pled the 5th to every question. He wasn’t going to even answer what colour tie he was wearing.

What has now happened is influencer MDs are using the hashtag

Why? They feel that no one is perfect. That this was an impossible job. Forcing people to do something they didn’t want to do was OK. I guess they also give him grievance for monetary gifts he collected throughout the pandemic.

All July 29th did was re-ignite everyone’s fire.

Of course no one is perfect. But we can be human and admit mistakes. That is one aspect of maintaining trust.

My education taught me to be curious. It taught me to ask questions. How else would I figure out someone’s ill health when others would say “we don’t know”. I don’t always buy the “we don’t know why you feel this way” sentence in medicine. Just because it isn’t in a text book doesn’t mean the answer doesn’t exist.

Enter the world of a Naturopathic Doctor. The profession that is the OG of Functional medicine. Did you know it was NDs that coined “leaky gut” better known as Intestinal Permeability. It wasn’t until Zonulin was discovered that this was accepted.

What i have learned is asking questions in medicine can go two ways

1. You solve the issue. And everyone is happy.
2. You ask inconvenient questions and you are an outlier.

I think I was born an outlier. And I thank my lucky stars that I found Naturopathic Medicine. I was taught to ask inconvenient questions except it isn’t always in my favour and nor do even my colleagues appreciate it.

The only person that matters in this equation are my patients.

Ask questions. Seek answers. Rinse and repeat.
