Show of hands 🤚 - How many of my allied health colleagues have training or awareness in Fertility & Reproductive Health? I've been in clinical practice for over 25 years and other than pregnancy, women's health — puberty, adolescent health, hormones, perimenopause, menopause — was barely touched in my training.
That's not unusual. It's a gap that runs across allied health education, and most of us are piecing it together on the fly while our patients are dealing with it in real time. I've never been afraid of admitting what I don't know, but it's frustrating when it's so difficult to find reliable, high quality information.
So I did something about it.
Over the past year, I've been building the Women's Health Certification for allied health providers with a number of pretty incredible people. Last week I recorded the virtual sessions for the fertility course with Valerie Namer — MD (France), endocrinologist, and osteopathic manual practitioner. I LOVE working with smart people. She has the depth of knowledge to provide genuinely comprehensive content but fully understands the limits of our scope of practice.
The goal here is straightforward: give allied health practitioners the foundational knowledge they need to support women across the full lifespan — not to replace specialists, but to stop feeling underprepared in conversations we're already having every day in clinic. Imagine actually being able to help patients navigate health from puberty to menopause and beyond!
If you're curious about what we're doing, here is the link. https://f.mtr.cool/shzaoruboa The fertility course is coming up September 11-12 in Mississauga, Ontario. Our program is open to physios, chiros, osteos, massage therapists, athletic therapists, nurses, and other allied health providers.
