“I switched to sugaring. Why am I STILL getting ingrown hairs?”
Because ingrowns aren’t caused by just one thing.
Hair texture and growth pattern matter. Curly, coarse and even wavy hairs can be more prone to becoming trapped or growing back into the skin.
Skin buildup, dryness, friction, tight clothing, under-exfoliating and over-exfoliating can all contribute too.
One simple change I’ve seen make a noticeable difference for some clients? Switching to looser, breathable cotton panties. It’s not a cure for ingrowns, but reducing friction and creating a less occlusive environment can help.
Good home care matters:
✨ Exfoliate appropriately
✨ Moisturize consistently
✨ Reduce friction
✨ Stay consistent with sugaring
✨ Consider a Vajacial when your skin needs extra care
Sugaring can help minimize hair breakage by removing hair in its natural direction of growth—but remember:
As long as you have growing hair, there is always some chance of an ingrown, no matter what you do or don’t do.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s creating better conditions for healthy regrowth.
