✨ New Episode: Low Tox Living 🌿

What if the biggest shift in your wellness journey wasn't a diet or a retreat — but your kitchen utensils?

In the latest episode of Uncovering Spirituality our guest is Corinne McDonald from Waking to Wellness. We discuss low tox living: how small changes around your home can reduce toxins for you and your family, and how it all connects to your spiritual practice.

Today, on August 9, the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, Spiritual Canada acknowledges with gratitude that we gather on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Neutral (Attawandaron) nations in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

At Spiritual Canada, we believe every genuine spiritual path enriches our collective humanity. We honour Indigenous spiritual traditions as foundational to the spiritual tapestry of this land; traditions rooted in reverence for the Earth, community harmony, and sacred living. We recognize the resilience of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit spirituality in the face of colonization and displacement.

On this day, we commit to honouring Indigenous wisdom keepers, fostering interfaith respect, and upholding the shared responsibility to care for the sacred web of life that unites us all.

August 1st is Lughnasadh.

What is Lughnasadh (pronounced LOO-nuh-suh)? It is an ancient Celtic holiday that celebrates the first harvest of the year. It typically takes place between the summer solstice and autumn equinox.

Thousands of years ago, there were no grocery stores. By late summer, last year’s food was almost gone, but the new crops were almost ready to pick. Lughnasadh was a huge celebration to say “Hooray, we have food again!”

The festival’s name comes from Lugh (pronounced Loo), a Celtic God associated with light and sun. Story has it that Lugh started the festival to honor his foster mother, Tailtiu, who worked tirelessly clearing the fields so people could farm.

The very first grains, like wheat and barley, were gathered and ground into flour to bake special loaves of bread. Everybody shared the bread to give thanks for the bountiful harvest!

Lughnasadh was also a big party! Community would come together and compete, pick berries, light fires on top of mountains for good luck, and even matchmake trial marriages (handfasting)!

Most people today get their food at the store. Many modern Celts, pagans, and wiccans still mark Lughnasadh by baking bread, picking fresh fruit, and gathering friends to enjoy the last weeks of summer.

You Might Already Be a Lightworker (Even If You Don’t Think You Are)

The idea of a “lightworker” has been overcomplicated and over-mystified. It’s not about being chosen, gifted, or spiritually elevated above others. It’s about lived experience — what you’ve been through, how you’ve processed it, and how willing you are to be honest about that journey....
