🧀 These might ruin store-bought biscuits for you.
Spelt flour, sharp cheddar, garlic and butter…and then a little more cheese because apparently we’ve made our decision. 😂 These Cheesy Garlic Herb Spelt Biscuits are soft and tender inside, golden and crispy around the edges, and ridiculously easy to make.
Cheesy Garlic Herb Spelt Biscuits
Ingredients
2 cups Mountain Path Organic Spelt Flour
1 tbsp baking powder
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp salt
1 tsp dried parsley or Italian herbs
½ cup cold butter, cubed
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
¾ cup cold milk or buttermilk
Garlic Herb Butter
2 tbsp melted butter
½ tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
Directions
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
Combine spelt flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt and herbs.
Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the cheddar. And yes…a little extra is allowed.
Add the milk or buttermilk and gently mix just until combined. Don’t overmix.
Drop about 8 rough portions onto the baking sheet.
Bake for 13–16 minutes, until golden with crispy cheddar edges.
Mix the melted butter, garlic and parsley and brush over the warm biscuits.
No rolling. No cutting. No perfectly shaped biscuits required.
Save this one for soup night…or just eat them straight off the tray.
