GPHSF, Your Family Health Team Foundation We work to raise vital funding for initiatives that broaden equity and access to healthcare.

Also known as Greater Peterborough Health Service Foundation, our vision is to fund and support programs that positively impact the social determinants of health. We support patients in our community who rely on the expert, compassionate care delivered by your local Family Health Team in the county and city of Peterborough.Your Family Health Team Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for specia

lized programs, research, capital equipment, training and continuing medical education for health care providers to enhance out-of-hospital patient care. We rely on the generosity of donors and community partnerships to support patients at all stages of life, whether they are expecting a baby, on warfarin (an anticoagulent that prevents blood clots and other complications), suffer from anxiety and depression, are at risk for diabetes, and much more.

It was our pleasure to present a cheque to the Peterborough Kawartha site of the Queens Family Medical Program to purchase equipment to support and train our local Family Physicians. This funding will be used to purchase handheld POCUS (Point of Care Ultrasound) and Dermatoscopy Devices. These devices allow clinicians to rapidly perform bedside imaging for such things as skin infections, lung evaluations for pneumonia, kidney and gallbladder stones, and many other purposes. This potentially reduces unnecessary Emergency Department visits and formal imaging referrals.

Equipment such as this is not covered by funding provided by the province. One of our directives as a Foundation is support equipment purchases to increase quality of care for patients in Peterborough City, County, Curve Lake and Hiawatha First Nations. If you would like to donate to support, please follow this link and donate to our General Fund. https://www.gphsf.ca/gphsfgivingguide/

Time to announce some Alumni! We are very excited to announce that Darcy Tucker and Chris Neil will be joining our Rivalry Night: The Battle of Ontario fundraiser.

These two players were central figures of the original rivalry in the early 2000’s between Ottawa and Toronto and two names many fans will think of when talking about the Battle of Ontario. We are excited to have Darcy Tucker and Chris Neil playing on November 6th at the Peterborough Memorial Centre helping us raise money for concussion education and awareness in youth sport.

Tickets available now, including meet and greet packages with either alumni team, through https://www.ticketmaster.ca/event/100064B6C9588071

It feels a bit like Fall today in Peterborough. Although it’s July 22nd, take this opportunity to let your mind wander to the Fall when hockey starts again. Then think about joining us on November 6th to see a group of star NHL Ottawa and Toronto Alumni play each other at the Memorial Centre. Then think about how it’s also a fundraiser to support youth sport concussion education and awareness.

That’s enough thinking. Get your tickets now at www.memorialcentre.ca
